You know it’s funny how they literally showed us a video on why Irish is useless and we shouldn’t learn as most of us most likely will never speak it again you know it’s also funny how we learn Irish for 14 years and we can’t speak fluently and just forget to language but this man speaks it fluent after learning for 6 months

It's amazing. Anyone can speak as gaeilge, however; is leath éirinn mé féin I am half Irish and half Australian indigenous. Yet when I come out as is Gaeilgeorí mé everyone gives me shite about the color of my skin defining my ability to speak Irish or even a connotation that I shouldn't. as Gaeilge is breá liom é! as Gaeilge I love it tá ghaeilge go hiontach ar fad é! Irish is beautiful agus táimse ag seinnim bodhrán féin agus is breá liom é freisin I play bodhran and I love it! too

Wow, I loved this!! That one scene felt so familiar but I couldn't remember the name of the movie. But I'm so glad I decided to watch the movie because this was so heartwarming and human.

Looking at the pub scene, it’s honestly quite sad and disappointing that most of us can’t speak our native language well. While we can understand it to a certain degree, the majority of us are not fluent. And even more so, a lot of us have lost interest in learning the language. We should be very proud of our country and our culture.

Excellent film.

I'm a linguaphile from India who studies linguistics and language evolution, and Gaeilge is on top of my list of "special languages" that I aspire to master and understand thoroughly. This list is as follows:

Icelandic (Old Norse)
Gaeilge (as well as Old Irish 😊)
Gaidhlig
Old Sanskrit
Old Latin
Navajo
Kaqchikel (one of the Mayan languages)
Basque
Romany
Old Persian
Aramaic
Afrikaan
Etruscan
Alaskan Inuktituut
Burushaski
Shina
Khowar
Pashto
Tamil
Divehi
Quechuan

You can add / suggest additional languages as well for this "special" category.

May you all find / achieve whatever you're looking for 😊👍.

Erin go Bragh!

As an American who wants to visit a lot of different countries I appreciate that English is the dominat language just cuz it makes things easier for me but I hope future generations pick it up as a secondary language to keep it alive.

The time i meet irish i was wondering why they had england but not speaking irish too. I have to point out that fork and knife aren't hard for us to use though...

As far as I know from researching bits & bobs, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans & Filipinos/Filipinas take studying & learning more serious no matter the subject, including languages. If there's any in east Asia I missed, share. If only it was that easy to learn a language that good in 6 months, but in this day & the lack of places teaching irish it'd never be that fast.
