YYC New Endoscopy Procedure

Patients undergoing surgery for early-stage stomach and intestinal cancer are recovering faster and going home sooner as a result of a new surgical approach thanks to a multi-disciplinary team from the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary. The team successfully treated eight patients using this method, with three more to undergo the procedure in March. All eight patients were discharged home within 24 hours of surgery and none required hospital readmission. Andy Blundell, 68, was the first patient to undergo the less invasive, endoscopic surgery in December. “I enjoyed breakfast at home the next morning."
