Selling Beats Online: How Producers Get Paid For Streaming (DistroKid Teams)

I asked you this a while ago and not sure if you know the answer now, if you mixed and produce a song for an artist and it gets big, how do the points work for having mixed it too?

artists who are nobodies are not gonna cut producers in on master royalties....distrokid already robs you and since they are a nobody they dont expect to get alot of streams so forkin over 50% of masters on leased beats would make a artist not even want to buy a beat indie artists spend too much as it is to promo songs and pay for other things that an artist will never profit anything at that rate only lose money while a producer is takin 50% from every master the beat is linked to....thas a no go for artists imo

What if artist pay for exclusive rights to production. Not free. Not lease. But pays the full asking price of the producer to produce the album. What are the splits the. You don’t seem to clear things up.

This video couldnt come out at a better time! What is your take on the ISRC code?? Is it necessary? Also if so, how do I get it from a song that an artist did to my beat? Lastly when should I consider actually registering a song someone has did to my beat? Because I seen in you old video you and others said that if they are not using it exclusively we shouldnt worry about it. All this stuff is confusing to me but I dont want to brush it off because it could hurt me in the long run.

As a composer I am surprised that beatmakers don't ask for a cut of mechanicals..I tried to add the beatmake from CDBaby for just a credit and it asked for their Itunes account or Spotify and most of them did not have one or there was more than one with the same name..my advise do whatever to make it easy to find.

Lets say you collab with a rapper named rapper A. If rapper A does not include you on his end and split masters, and hes already uploaded the track on music platforms, what do you do?
do you upload the song yourself? how can you claim your 50% (or w.e. split) and make sure youre collecting your share?

Thanks for this video but I do have one question. If I collab with my brother and he don't want to do the distrokid even sending him a email to get paid, can I simply do the split sheet 100% earnings too myself but cash out him 50%? My bro. is not computer savvy but he can rap his ass off.

How do you approach uploading sold beats from beatstars on distrokid? Do you write every buyer a message that they need to contact you and send you the finished project file so you can upload their elaborated beat?
