F**k them hate people like that they ruin it for new fishers and put people off the sport by being stuck up arses i dont get how they think that is okay! Do they want to keep the sport going and having new young sports men taking it up? They must just want to keep it all to there self or they might just be drunk with power as they saying goes give a man power and he will soon show his true character.

What a total load of crap. My only suggestion is for you to move to Australia as there is 'NOTHING" like this crap here. BUT there is one caveat you must adhere to.. No carp of any size is to be returned to any water for any reason. They do make exceptional compost though.

Keep fishing Tom, these type of clubs are the ones who take the joy out of fishing, a simple warning for first time would’ve been sufficient to a logical person especially as you were a beginner. There are many much friendlier clubs out there run by realistic fishing loving people with no cliques. Mate I don’t even fish lakes like this anymore, iv found that 90% of anglers that fish these types of waters are absolute arseholes, I now fish natural waters, rivers, canals, forgotten lakes that nobody owns as the sense of achievement I get when I catch a fish from there feels so much more rewarding that catching carp that were put in a lake purposely to be caught, and I never have to deal with people like this 🙂 tight lines mate

Great video Tom, really enjoyed watching it. The struggle to make content without making enemies is real. Ive got to the point where i rarely name the waters I'm fishing as it just creates to much hassle. I'm banned from joining a club for showing footage a bit of river that wasn't even theirs! Its a very sad side of fishing which im not sure will ever be solved.

Mate I had the same back in 1994 on a carp fishery in the south west , and after the ranger was a bit harsh with his words and said I had to leave, (I was only 14 at the time) so me being me I fucked my permit at him packed my stuff and told his to F off and ever since that day I’ve never gone carp since . I now only fly fish for my fish and it mainly trout and pike where I fish at chew valley but have had some cracking chub / perch and roach on the fly . Fly fishing is the way forward and now been fly fishing for 30 years .

Thank you for making this video, Tom! I actually have several similar experiences, which ultimately made me quit for over a decade. Unfortunately jealousy is club rule #1, also in Belgium. I only recently picked it up again because my son asked me to teach him. Fun fact: On his second day he caught a 27Lb mirror on the local club lake 😄 So without a doubt in my mind and before he has to face that s**t as well, we'll be heading for public waters. New sub!

Bit late to see this vid but have to say it was a good one ,your film making is on point tom.we've already seen that with your work with Carl.Some lovely carp caught there.Esp' for your first few ever! Sometimes the greatest and the worst thing about carp fishing is other anglers. Im sure you now know-the secret is to stay away from the crowds and muddy holes and go seek original venues which hold unkown big fish. That's where you usually find the best guys,all similar and purely out for the love of the fishing. Look forward to more videos.

You can't legislate for common jealousy. I gave up my allotment after 20 years when a couple of old men kept cutting my leeks and brussells sprouts down, even though I wasn't showing them. They were grown for food. At the same time a neighbour had his allotment glasshouses and sheds burned to the ground simply because he was a bit assertive on the committee and didn't tolerate poorly weeded allotments. The sad side and petty mind of the post war British working man.

Like most clubs, NEED and want new PAYING members, but so against the new members doing better than the elite dinosaurs. These clubs will die out very quickly unless they catch up to the modern world. Sending pictures to your friends & family isn’t publication, it’s sharing the joy of fishing. One of your “friends” stabbed you in the back. So glad you’ve moved onto to bigger & better things. Hope you make enough money to buy the pond from the dying club & ban the lot of them!

It's a shame but a lot of clubs and syndicates are run by sad jealous pricks. You said in the video that everyone shared photos, that proves they just wanted you out. Sad fuckers.

I call them bum lickers all up each others ass same as the club I am in now I’ve made a couple of mates who hate it too and we have a laugh and talk about the saddos never let them get you down you have everything right to fish you got license so F*** them

Lovely video. Why gets me is not that you got banned for 6 months as you did break a rule (even it would seem that such a response might be appropriate if your photo and named venues were to appear in the angling press) but the way you were treated by syndicate members once your ban was over. Over here (USA) carp are everywhere, big carp too and, once you get a state license, fishing is free unless you have to cross private land to get there. Do we have carp thefts? Yes we do...some pay lakes, which are our "commercials" do take large carp from rivers and lakes to stock their waters. I have seen trucks with large aerated tanks behind guys fishing with several rods each, but as I said, carp are everywhere and while I don't approve of this, it doesn't seem to make a deal of difference. Imagine if you had bow fishers over there....guys who shoot large fish with a bow and arrow for fun that are everywhere over here...now that would result in violence I suspect!
