Sopranos can be extremely formulaic with the whole “introduce a character at the start of a season, that character causes problems for Tony, and then is killed near the end of the season” (or sometime after) rinse and repeat for Richie, Ralphie, Jackie Jr and Blundetto and you see a pattern
ОтветитьWhoa - you got this all wrong, bro. I like your stuff, but Tony B's "non-mobness" was exactly the POINT of his character. Not all mobsters are in silk suits or track suits with hair coming out of their chests (and back) with black, slicked back hair and a gold chain. Look at the photos yourself of actual mobsters over the years. All of them were Italian, but not all of them looked Italian.
Ответить"Hello fellow mobsters" I never was quite able to place it, but it is true, Steve B does not seem like an edgy, prison hardened, fire bomb.
ОтветитьHe was an animal for wasting the silicone alone, not to mention his other deeds.
ОтветитьSolid as usually brutha, keep up the great work
ОтветитьNah man. Its vito by a country mile.
ОтветитьI liked him....he was a fox
ОтветитьShut up, Donny!
ОтветитьSteve always playing a bad guy "king of new york" "Fargo"
ОтветитьMboy are you fat
ОтветитьTony B punching Soprano out of the blue would've been more believable and less contrived.
ОтветитьNah you're being very unfair with Blundetto. Not every character has to speak in Italian-American jargon, it's a stereotype and it's offensive! Buscemi is literally an Italian-American and doesn't speak like that irl. Also the idea that they changed Moltisanti is bs. Christopher was of the sensitive type since the beginning of the show, are you kidding? His most famous line of the regularness of life doesn't ring a bell? He was like that from the beginning to the end. Many things wrong with this video, even though I do enjoy your content.
ОтветитьTony was entertaining as was Ralph. I was a fan of Buscemi’s work on Sopranos and he was great in Empire Boardwalk. Ralph was smart witty and made money, but a little more of a pain in the ass. Can’t agree with you on the worst.
ОтветитьSteve Buscemi’s death was the scariest
ОтветитьDysentery? Do you mean dissent?
ОтветитьMadsen woulda been great
ОтветитьIn the end… Steve just couldn’t fuckin sell it!
ОтветитьI disagree completely. The fact that this guy is talked up as a big shot for half a season before he shows up as a goofy ass dork with bad social awareness who can't even hit a guy without getting his foot run over is perfectly in line with the show. One of the strongest thematic undercurrents in The Sopranos is the contrast between the glorified Goodfellas life they all think they lead and the mundane, goofy, shitty reality of it. Tony B exemplifies that.
ОтветитьA show is a living thing. It’s not all planned out before the first episode
ОтветитьIn a few of your earlier videos I tried to nit pick about your use of dysentery when you meant dissention. Now I realize it is an obvious reference to the show, I am embarrassed about it. Thanks and sorry.
ОтветитьNot only was he miscast for the Sopranos, he was also miscast in Boardwalk Empire.
ОтветитьExploding and destroying the massage business never really made sense, my best guess is with it so close yet still annoying, he said "do I really want this? Is this the life I want?" and he realised he wanted to be a gangster. Ultimately he realised that he was done taking shit and as massager he'd be taking a lot of shit.
ОтветитьI think you're forgetting where Steve Buscemi came from
The man was in resivoir dogs and fargo. Two of the most important crime movies of all time. Also his name ends in a vowel so what do you want?
"Tony Egg wants to go straight." OUTSTANDING!
"Make us some eggs, will ya..."
I agree with this wholeheartedly, I felt the same way watching that season. Buschemi was poor casting and he didn’t fit the character at all.
Please do a video on Robert DeNiro’s character from Jackie Brown, that’s another epic miscasting that no one ever brings up
He was the worst character, and it led to the worst season in the entire show.
ОтветитьI agree 💯, Buscemi is a great actor but he is a major distraction on the show. He does not fit the vibe or have the look at all. Feech and The Shah of Iran are perfect fits for the show as additional characters but Blundetto is shoehorned in. Honestly its one reason I rate the Wire over the Sopranos
Ответить100% agree on your take. Glad somebody said it
ОтветитьTony Blundetto has got the whole world, in his hands, hes got the whole wide world, in his hands...
Ответить@Cineranter You also can't sell to me that you would know a real-life "dangerous" character even if they were right in front of your face like awkward, mild-mannered Jeff Dahmer.
Point of fact, when I'm watching a show, I never get the feeling that I'm seeing anything other than bits and parts of character's lives, so...to learn something important later that wasn't mentioned earlier is quite normal.
Thanks for your opinion, but "no sale".✌️
Season 5 is one of my least favourite seasons. That is largely because of Tony B and how awkward his presence in the show is.
ОтветитьActually the Feech La Manna story was confirmed to be short since its conception. Pure Kino explains it in his What Was the Problem with Feech La Manna video.
ОтветитьPahlavi deep cut
ОтветитьI think him and Tony have chemistry, and you have odd types - weirdos in the MOB. All of Tony B's jokes and turning a new leaf BS and he goes back to his old ways like Feech. All of Tony's worshipped back in the day lore turns out to be a lot more flawed and repetitive that Tony believed. The best days are behind him.
ОтветитьHe is literally the only character I didnt want to die in the show. I was hoping Tony S would get killed off as I thought since I first saw him that he was the greasiest unlikable guy. He is just a giant fat baby. At least Animal was interesting and oddly charismatic.
ОтветитьBuscemi's parents are Sicilian too.
ОтветитьTony B is the Reason why Season 5 is one of my favourites!! Steve Buscemi is a National Treasure !
ОтветитьNever mention The Many Saints of Newark again. Ever!
ОтветитьHis performance always felt more natural than others, some of the mobsters are a little bit more Hollywood, he feels grounded
ОтветитьNo way!!! He fits in perfectly.
ОтветитьThe Sopranos "jumped the shark" with the Tony B. character.
ОтветитьWhen I first watched the show all I could think about was his crazy eyes character and his Oreo pizza
ОтветитьBullshit he was great!!
ОтветитьOmg you’re right he was shoe horned in!
ОтветитьI agree he's the worst, most underwritten character. And i love Buscemi. He did what they asked him to do. It's just me never came off like the other characters described him and his motivations never made sense.
ОтветитьThat intro was packed with good jokes. Well done! I have to agree, two things really stuck out to me even on my first viewing of the series. That fight with Kim that came out of nowhere is one. The other is the assassination attempt on Phil. He blows the element of surprise by shooting the wrong person, then he...leaves, I guess? Even though Phil is right there and has seen his face, he doesn't shoot Phil, he just goes home and starts packing.
ОтветитьThe Many Tony Bs of Newark
ОтветитьHe’s only half Italian. I mean, I’m not saying I’m more Italian than him but for a show like the Sopranos probably should be 100% Italian.
or like David Proval 100% Jewish & And of course, Phil Leotardo 100% Shah of Iran!
Dude complains that he doesn’t have a short fuse the way he’s described. Then complains that he punched Kim lol. This video is so busted.
