Thanks for watching! Those “Craftsman” magazines have a motto printed in the inside: “Als Ik Kan.” It’s Dutch and basically translates to “As Best I Can” — a good summation of the Arts & Crafts ethos of individual craftsmanship.

I appreciate that you went to the effort to research what currency looked like a the turn of the 20th Century, and had the "dollar signs showed up on the plans" coupled with contemporary $20 Gold Certificates -- because, of course, US currency was still tied to the gold standard. As a former coin collector, I heartily approve!!

ОтветитьThey are exactly the same design as the average traditional pseudocolonial architecture you would find in Colombia and Venezuela.
ОтветитьMy grandfather said Craftsman homes were made to make poor people feel inportant, while someone else makes enough money to build a Victorian. This type of home worked in the USA because it was simple to build and affordable, fit American suburbia to a tee. But the socialism Mr. Morris may have thought of dearly never made it here in America, and Im thankful for that. Fact is, you are what you are. Im an artist, I have sold some paintings that I prospered well on, some are still collecting dust in my storage room. This idea that if employees are equal to bosses they will preform better is nonsense. I have seen several people give men raises at tremendous levels, three months later, they produced the same yeild as they gave before they got the raise, a person is what they are, money does not change that, and the only way you deserve the same clarity as your boss, you must take equal finacial risk, and must have at least the same intellect. The big problem is that many people think they do, but dont. Because if they did, theyd be starting a business themselves, so a lot of the time arrogance is confused with intellect, these type of people tell themself something, believe it, and no other rational thought is going to be taken. I personally am more taken by a grand victorian for craftmanship. I do like simple, but that would be done more by a simple prarie styled cabin or simple two story farmhouse. But thats just my likings. I also loved Muchas art work, Picassos not so much, thats why life is such a mystery, what to chose, what to chose.....
ОтветитьObviously a square hobbit hole
