I've been running a DNS resolver on my pfSense firewall/router for about 7.5 years. Prior to that, I was running DNSmasq on a Linux firewall/router for several years.
BTW, to make better use of your monitor space, you might want to run Wireshark in the 2nd layout, with panel 1 across the top and panels 2 & 3 at the bottom, with panel 3 just wide enough to display the hex data.
