Great project for a beginner like me. One question , the plans I bought from you said to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions for the drawer slides, but they did not come with any installation instructions and I can't find any on you tube for this brand. Can you give me a link or tell me where to find some?
ОтветитьDoes it feel, or get “tippy” when moving? I just bought your plans however I have the WEN 12” press and it’s base is a bit larger I think. 🤔
ОтветитьLooks nice, but this is a tipping hazard.
ОтветитьWhere do you get your plywood?
ОтветитьThanks great video help me a lot
Ответитьwatching from philippines
Ответитьdon't see the link for the drill press
ОтветитьI have a new 42 inch Rikon drill press that is 42 inches high. Would the height of this stand be the right height for this press or should I make it a bit shorter? What size would you recommend? I am 5 ft 8" tall and want to use 3 inch casters. Please advise
ОтветитьI love your plans! The best thing about your plans, besides me having to design them, is that they are so modular and can be easily modified. I just finished this build and put my own spin on it.
ОтветитьI'm lazy.
I have ready made stands for my drill press, belt sander, planer. Looks just like this.
Get "mobile pedestal files" from a used office furniture store. Available in 24" & 29" depth. 2 or 3 drawer.
On casters with locking caster in front.
Full suspension ball bearing glides.
Put ply or MDF on top with double faced tape. Bolt through or wood border retainers for each tool.
Works great without all the romance.
Hey Fix !
What is the maximum drill press weight that your stand can stand?
Just great! Something else I want to make. Ever thought about having some side wings off the sides for longer pieces?
ОтветитьWhy did you choose to build the drawer boxes out of 3/4 plywood rather than 1/2 which you generally use?
ОтветитьWhat type of ply is that? Can you buy at the home depo?
ОтветитьLooking to build this weekend, but my ability to haul plywood is usually limited to quarter sheets. Will I be able to complete this project with 4 quarter sheets, or will there be cuts that don't work for those dimensions?
Ответитьwhere is the information on the drill press?
ОтветитьI just got the same drill press and purchased your plans. Excellent build!!
ОтветитьAwesome vid and project What screws do you use to go into the end grain of the plywood
ОтветитьThe plans along with the video are spot on. It’s so good I built two of them. One for my Wen drill press and another for my Wen band saw. The drawer storage is worth the build alone. Great job Brad, and thanks for the easy to follow plans!
ОтветитьJust built this, but I have one question....how do you get the drawer pulls through the 1.5 inches of the false front combined with the drawer face?! My drawer pull screws are only .75 inches long. Simply get longer screws or countersink through one whole 3/4 inch layer of plywood?
ОтветитьJust bought your plan and will get started on it next week. One question for you: Did you bolt down the drill press on the top of the cabinet? If so, any pointers on how to best accomplish this? Thanks!
ОтветитьSimple and effective! Love the castors too.
ОтветитьIs it Sturdy enough and held up over the years?
ОтветитьThe cabinet has a narrow footprint. Even if you bolt the drill press to the top of the cabinet how likely is it the drill press will tilt the cabinet over?
ОтветитьAwsome! I just finished mine and have a video of it on my channel. This was a great source of inspiration!
ОтветитьLooking forward to building this for my new WEN/Jet Drill Press. I have the same one you have which is built by WEN for Jet. Or maybe it is the other way around either way great drill press.
ОтветитьI ordered the plan for $9, but it didn't download. Please help D. Orgeron
ОтветитьLooks like you took a simple nightstand and added casters.
Drill presses are top heavy and have small footprints as it is. How often does it tip over now?
Any link to purchase the drill press?
ОтветитьI did this by fixing four industrial castors to a redundant 3-drawer cabinet. Minimal cost, minimal effort,, saved dumping a perfectly useable cabinet
ОтветитьWhat caster wheels you use?
ОтветитьI built this stand but found it to be too wobbly on casters. I think this is because it is not very wide and tends to be top heavy. I ended up removing the front casters and putting a cleat type leg across the front. This improved the stability but didn’t remove all the wobble. I can live with it now and still have casters on the back in case I need to drag it around the shop. I think the best solution for me would have been to mount the cabinet to the wall permanently but I didn’t want to commit to a location.
ОтветитьGreat project and easy to follow plans! I am almost done with mine. Just need to attach the drawer faces and the top. I did use a 1/8" round over bit on the drawer faces to clean up my ragged cuts. :) Still learning my table saw. (No Band Saw or Miter Saw at this time) I am thinking about doing that to the top of edges of the drawers too. Next build, your Lathe Cabinet. :)
Ответить😳WOW !🤔Now what did you do with Israel Preston in the morning anymore? And if you still have I'll buy it from you if the price is right 😉👍.
Ответитьjust found this site. very interesting. Is there a particular system you use to determine how many drawers you can fit into your cabinet box allowing for the various tolerances?
ОтветитьHey man, I really appreciate your videos. However, I do have a weird request if that is okay with you? I am on a limited budget and don't have the money to afford Sande Ply, which in my area is about 80$ a sheet. Most of the "ply" i get is really OSB from work (residential framer). Ive seen most of your videos are using 3/4 ply, and i was wondering how to make some of these projects without using so much plywood? Thanks alot for your videos, and we all appreciate your hard work and time making them for all of us to enjoy and learn from.
ОтветитьJust used your video/plans to build one of my own. Made some modifications for the space, my size (I’m petite), and using the materials on hand. She is already a huge asset in my shop and I don’t know what I did before I built her. Truly inspiring work you’re doing here! I share your video all over the FB group I posted pics on.
ОтветитьBrad...I bought the plans...pretty much done with the project, but I'm stuck. Regarding putting on the drawer pulls (I'm using the same as what you used in the video)...the screw for the pulls have to go through two 3/4" plywood boards. The drawer front and the false front. The screws that come with the Liberty pulls are only about an inch. What do you suggest?
ОтветитьTried this build, took my time, followed plans to a tee. But the drawers won’t even close. Figured this would be great first project, beyond my abilities. I used a spacer exactly as shown in plans for slides. It should burn nice.
ОтветитьHey Brad - Thanks for the great video and plans. I just built this one (had the same drill press as you!) and swapped out walnut for the drawer faces and trim around the top for a little extra something. It looks great and is a really nice addition to the shop!
ОтветитьHow did you attach the drill press to the top of the stand?
ОтветитьBrad, happy 2023. I wish you a lot of new projects and videos. I built it and it is great. Video and plan was nice prepared and easy to read. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьBuilding that this weekend for sure
ОтветитьThat was beautiful.
ОтветитьWhat grit do you typically sand to before poly?
ОтветитьWould a quart size can of poly be enough to seal this as you did?
ОтветитьThe plans + the video are great. I am SHOCKED that there isn't any dusk collection for the drill press in these plans.
ОтветитьVery interesting tips. I love the drawer bottom chamfer. How do you like those Jet clamps?
Ответитьhow good is drill press jet 12?
ОтветитьBought your plans and built the cabinet/stand. When I started to fill the drawers, I discovered I had many more drill bits and types of bits that I had forgotten that I had purchased over the years. Love your easy to follow plans and am going to build your work table and drawers next.
