I remember when my Dad removed a tick from one of my cousins with heat. He lite a match and quickly put it out and then touched the tick and it let go. I guess it was the heat that made the tick let go and he said that you could also use a lighted cig and put it near the tick and it would let go.

university really the only way to remove a tick is with a v shaped tick remover place it as far as you can into the groove sliding it on your skin the turn anti clockwise the all the tick is removed ,using her method you risk the chance of leaving parts of tick inside of yourself

Wish I'd seen this sooner. I just found one 'down under' and panicked. Pincers didn't come out with the rest of the tick and now the skin is too irritated for me to try grabbing the rest.

It's supposed to take up to 72 hours for a tick to reach blood, so if you use the soapy rag (counter-clockwise) method to remove it before that point... you don't even break the skin, and the anti-bacterial soap used cleanses the area of any germs. Tweezers not only needed, but what do you do if you're not at home - and no tweezers in hand? I've used anti-bacterial soap (no water) on a paper towel from a gas station bathroom to remove a tick... it works every time, about 8-10 counter-clockwise swirls ontop of the tick - and it's off w/o any concerns.

She hasn't got a clue, talking like an expert but she's completely wrong. You use anti-bacterial soap on a cloth and swirl around over the tick counter clockwise to unscrew it's bite from the skin - leaves the tick entirely intact, doesn't break the skin any further, and comes out effortlessly (especially on children). You swirl a soapy (no water) rag about 8-10 times counter-clockwise and the tick will come off, I've already had one this year again - and it came off effortlessly no matter how attached, like all the previous times. No tweezers needed at all.

The tick did not bite her--it was not attached. It will take a few minutes for the tick to let go using tweezers.

During our 2022 Rides, we did not encounter any tics, however in 2021, we had a few.
We Always Check our selves after each ride.
And use some sort of Repellant.
We most of the time forget to bring any, it's on our mental list of things to bring, but we forget.
