Have you thought about a ratting dog to help with rodent control? Not sure if they can catch mice or not, but at least they can be trained to leave the birds alone.
ОтветитьVery informative video thank you. I am going to try growing winter potatoes and leaving them in the ground. Can you recall which variety you planted, they looked great? Many thanks
ОтветитьThank you so much for your share about winter vegetable in Ireland.
ОтветитьCan you get A terrier? They can help you with the mice. Ducks can help you with slugs and protect your chickens.
ОтветитьYou have to plant swede in spring? And cant harvest until winter?
ОтветитьWhat do you have the pigs for? Do you slaughter them? I wouldn't have the heart for that
ОтветитьGood kitties!
ОтветитьNormally the German Späzle is just a regular potato pasta. interesting twist though to make it from beetroot.
ОтветитьThank you !! Always great videoes and I learn so much.
ОтветитьDo you have slugs there and how do you deal with them
ОтветитьYou might be interested in reading Eliot Coleman's book The Four Season Harvest. He has grown a number of vegetables that you might like to try. I had not heard of many until reading his book.
ОтветитьLovely, really like the potato storing idea, I'll have to try that!

ОтветитьWould somewhat argue for lettuce, as I think it’s tasty. However, if you think it’s too insipid, try this. Had BBQ’d lettuce last night… chard, it transforms it into something really nice!
ОтветитьCats are nocturnal so you can encourage them to come inside and sleep for the day. Training them from kittenhood to come inside during the day would be best of course. But this would save your bird population.
ОтветитьI might try this re the potatoes, though we do suffer with seed potatoes being eaten by rodents when they’re sown so it may not work out. I’ll try! Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьTurnips are wonderful picked. The only way I like them.
ОтветитьDaniel with Luck you will find a Irish Coleen to help you in your homestead, and a several healthy children who you can teach and who will help in.the garden and look after you when you get older. Did you enjoy the Uisce Beatha the water of life,
Ответить0 parsley (2 year growth cycle)

8 potato
7 purple sprouting broccoli
6 turnip/swede/rutabaga

ОтветитьHave you tried sunchokes for a winter crop?
ОтветитьPlease show us your German volunteer’s recipe for beetroot! Thank you 🙂
ОтветитьI heard from someone that if you feed your cats well in the morning, they will be lazy during the day, but you should not feed them in the evening to encourage them to hunt during the night.
Im curious if you are planting by the moon and what is your opinion on it.
Most appreciated. Leave carrots and taters in soil. Wonderful.
ОтветитьThanks, good advice. 😀
ОтветитьLove your voice, gardening tips are very helpful! Thank you 🙏
ОтветитьI've only recently stumbled upon your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it. Absolutely love the way you include your lovely animal friends in the videos 🙂
ОтветитьI love kale! Never had Brussels Sprouts, or Perpetual spinach!

ОтветитьDo u grow blueberries?
ОтветитьCan ducks be used for slug control?
ОтветитьGreat video, but I have to say my beetroot were seriously hit by slugs, eating at least half of every one, still managed to harvest plenty but the slugs did a lot of damage - my cabbages were like swiss cheese.
ОтветитьHe must have recorded this one before lunch, he was grazing on everything! Lol
ОтветитьMissed #2. Chattering with another, too much. Thanks. Can a 75 year old start a small landholding in the West of Ireland?
ОтветитьRaw brussel sprouts actually make a really good salad combined with a fruity vinegar and some hard cheese.
ОтветитьI love how simply you explain everything. This encourages me to grow more this winter. I can tell that you have been doing this for a while, thank you for sharing!
ОтветитьTry keeping the cat up in the daytime and letting them out at night
ОтветитьW b at a beautiful video

ОтветитьWhere do you get your seeds from
ОтветитьI love learning from you. Thank you for your wisdom
Ответитьto keep the mice, and even worse the shrews, away...you need to put the cat out at night. He/she will sort them out as mice/shrews mostly come out at night and also the birds will be safe. Thats what I do.
ОтветитьHey mossy!
I'm an Irishman not living in Ireland, you make me home sick. Miss the Ireland that you display so well!
