Kindof disappointing how the One Ring failed to do what it was made to do, but is still the most important object in the Third Age. Idk maybe it’s just me

I have a question??? Why are the rings divided up by odd numbers? 1, 3, 7 and 9 but it skips 5??? Why??

I always wondered why the Nazgul bothered to disguise themselves as black riders. Surely it would be easier to find the ring when invisible

According to this, it seem the Nazgul are tragic characters. Great kings of men doomed to die. Yet, become enslaved to Sauron and never to fully rest in peace.

I like what the Hobbit trilogy did with the 9. I don't consider it canon, but I enjoyed the concept of them breaking out of The High Fells crypt.

Were the Nine and Seven made explicitly for Men and Dwarves, respectively? Or did Sauron grab them from a pile and give them to someone regardless of their species?

hey buddy and all you Tolkien students-- where can I read the most detail about the making of the rings? The Silver and gold and mithril and the melting and pouring of the molds and the gems? Does Tolkien write about this in one particular place in most detail?

Thanks ahead of time. I'm a Jewler and it's of most interest to me

After watching Wizards & Warriors channel (which is great) I've come to really appreciate the slower pace at which you tell the story (your slower way of talking). I think it's perfect. My mind has just the time it needs to process each sentence whereas in the other channels I watched the information comes too quickly for me and 5 minutes later I realize that I had disconnected and my mind stopped listening. Again and again no matter how much I try and refocus (happens with WW2 channel with Indy Niggel as well despite his content being first class). So thanks for doing things this way. Maybe it's only me.

It's interesting, how the Nine only appeared as the Black Riders during LOTR, when during most of their existence, they looked like incorporeal suits of armor. Those wearing the One Ring saw them in their true form: Mere mockeries of the mighty kings they once were.

The ringwraiths wear the nine rings. Sauron possesses the nine rings.

They can never truly die so long as the Ring is intact, even when the Witch King was "slain" by Eowyn he was just very crippled and basically out of the game but he will eventually return had Sauron taken back the Ring. But once the Ring was destroyed their souls were finally released from the grasp of Sauron and go to the Halls of Mandos for a time then leave the circles of the world forever to wherever the souls of Men go. This place not known even by the wisest of Elves or even the Valar. I'd like to think that they return to the Timeless Halls and to the very bosom of Iluvatar Himself whether for punishment or reward. The will of Iluvatar cannot be gainsaid.

If three of the rings bearer were from numenor and once rulers.. so it has to be one of the kings of the numenorians right ? Whereas the list of kings tells when every one ruled and died.. isn't is contraindicatory ? Unless these 3 numenorians were lords or captians and not necessary a king.

I think you misinterpreted one big factor here — stating that the rings would likely still bind the Nine even if they were out of their possession. The example was given that Gollum remains obsessed with his Precious, but we have more counter-examples than arguments for that premise: notably, ring bearers feeling immense relief once freed of the One Ring, from Isildur to Bilbo to Frodo. A dark longing or obsession may remain, but beyond that I don’t know.

It is possible that the rings corrupted the Nine into a point, and once they were become Ring Wraiths the physical rings were needed no more—but I think in that event, if Sauron were bearing them, Gollum would have seen a ring of power on each of Sauron’s remaining nine digits. That wasn’t the case.

Seems a bit inefficient to have 9 rulers of kingdoms as your pawns turn into ghosty bois on horseback. Imagine if he kept them in power, Sauron would have had 9 kingdoms of men at his service.

Regarding if the nazgûl kept the rings or not - I might be some do and some don't or maybe not, however in shadow of war when talion releases one of them from their servitude to sauron a ring of power is dropped which talion later puts on to stay in the realm of the living to hold the forces of darkness at bay.
