Not a lot’s really been happening with my eToro portfolio - it’s pretty much exactly the same as it was in my last copy trading / eToro update from a couple of months ago.

So instead of focusing on the traders in my eToro portfolio, I go over some of my other assets, things I’ve been watching, and my broader portfolio and thoughts.A lot’s been happening in the last couple of months with some major news in the U.S banking sector.

Some of the biggest institutions have gone out of business, and now smaller banks seem to be feeling the same headwinds. Cryptos have been making good gains, perhaps in response to the U.S banking sector woes, but that remains to be seen…

My NFTs are all down, my Damien Hirst fine art investment is still looking very pretty, but its value has dropped. I’ve still got my physical gold and silver, which I’ve had for some years now, and I share my thoughts on having a stable income, and the effect that has on my investing options.If I didn’t have a stable source of income, I’d be forced to try to actually trade, which for me would be a nightmare. In order to trade, I’d need to do some serious studying - there’s a lot more to it than most people think.

Now if that’s not the lifestyle for you, then having a stable source of income is a must if you’re planning to hold assets long term (at least in my experience so far…) Being forced to sell assets at unfavourable prices because you ‘need the cash’ is a horrible situation to be in, so having enough cash on hand to cover unexpected or even expected expenses is a must (at least for me…).

I’ve seen that when I was new and thought I’d ‘just have a go’, I quickly found myself chasing big wins and taking huge risks in an attempt to make money. It didn’t go well, and I stopped very quickly, fortunately. Statistically, this doesn’t go well at all for many new investors, so having a stable income can really help if my goal is to invest rather than attempt to actively trade the markets. I share a few thoughts on it… Who knows - maybe it’s different for you - it could just be me who’s found it a problem :)
