Mark 10 v 44 Jesus himself says we must be slaves
ОтветитьThe problem is modern-day society has erroneously been conditioned to equate ‘slavery’ as being synonymous with ‘abuse’ & that is incorrect.
Furthermore, The Bible does NOT ‘condemn’ slavery. However, it does denounce the mistreatment of slaves by way threatening them & depriving them of earned rights/privileges.
Also, those verses Frank referenced claiming that scripture condemns slavery are being inaccurately represented.
Exodus 21:16
“Anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper’s possession.
(This is a verse is referencing KIDnappers, not slave owners, and the surrounding text [ironically enough] is a specific reference to guidelines about the proper treatment of servants.)
1 Timothy 1:10
for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
(Again, not a DIRECT condemnation of slavery [in & of itself] but the TRADING of slaves. Perhaps meaning, with nothing but selfish ambitions at heart & with no regard for the potential devastation that could result from spontaneously trading a slave off to a distant land while instantaneously shattering any family unity or lifestyle they’d worked to establish while under their master’s leadership.)
It’s the ‘corruption’ that ANY human being in a position of power is susceptible to succumbing to ..that is problematic. And this problem is not exclusive TO nor eliminated BY the abolishment of ‘slave owners.’
..As ANY modern-day king, politician, company manager, parent, teacher, police officer, judge, & the like, ..STILL, EVEN TODAY, ..can & have proven to be just as (if not sometimes even MORE-SO) problematically corrupt to point of abusing & violating people under them on a much more massive scale which FAR SURPASSES that of an elder-era ‘slave owner’
(& ESPECIALLY far surpassing that of any former slave owner who wasn’t given to wickedness & actually regarded their servants with the standard of decency that The Lord Almighty instructed in His Holy Bible.)
Ahura Mazda and his prophet Zarathustra figured out slavery was evil thousands of years before Yahweh, Jesus, and Allah could figure it out
Jesus was too scared to condemn slavery according to a lot of apologists arguments 😊but Zarathustra had no problems saying it.
And it’s a good thing he did because Cyrus the Great, a worshipper of Ahura Mazda, would use the great wisdom from Mazda to free the slaves of Babylon including the people of Judah.
Lying for Jesus! In the old testament there are specific instructions how to treat your slaves and how you can beat them and if they didn't die in two days then it was no problem! How far are the so-called "believers" prepared to bend backwards to defend the undefendable? Until their backs break?
But all the so-called "believers" do the same! As soon as there are problematic statements in their old scriptures at first they try to disregard, massage and reinterpretate the statements. Then they say that you don't have enough knowledge, that you have to read it with an "open heart", that it is a bad translation (especially the muslims), or that 8t is taking out of context. If that no longer works then they say that it was meant in a metaphorical way or if even that is no longer an option then they say that it was a miracle.
The problem is that those old scriptures were written by totally ignorant peasants who knew nothing about the real natural world and moreover took over the disgusting and discriminating morals of their patriarchal community of their time because they didn't know better!
Moreover, if it would really be inspired by their imaginary God the morals would be eternally valid and not depending on the time that the scriptures were written!
BOOM!!! Boy, did his face change!!😂😂😂
ОтветитьBOOM!!! Boy, did his face change!!😂😂😂
ОтветитьThe book of Jude is literally a letter Paul writes to a guy to accept his run away slave back into his home but no longer as a slave but as a brother in Christ.
ОтветитьThis was the that had sprouted in my head when I devoted to Christianity: “Why would a just God justify slavery?” Until I just watched a two minute clip of Frank Turek obliterating my question into bits.
ОтветитьGood points
ОтветитьI pray God saves him and everyone in the crowd
ОтветитьLevi 25 44-46 is the reason why christians shouldn't preach morality
ОтветитьThe first point is false. Israel did take prisoners of war that had no debts to pay. And last point was false, Masters were never ordered to free their slaves, just treat them right even in the New Testament. Paul even instructed one to return back to his master after he escaped to freedom. This means the Bible still endorses masters owning slaves.
ОтветитьTurek is lying.
ОтветитьHow many people in the comments actually studied all the slavery passages? How many are simply relying on this 2 minute clip from Frank Turek?
ОтветитьHe blatantly lied by omission. The bible condones slavery, and servanthood. And allows you to beat within limits.
ОтветитьThe guy lost my respect when he didn't wait quietly for an answer.
ОтветитьNo the bible doesn't condone slavery, it tells you how to own one!
ОтветитьHahaha haha I love how the video stopped after Frank makes his point. So as not to show how wrong Frank was when the guy reads out 3 verses that explicitly instructs "slaves obey your masters as you would obey me your God"
If it is not true slavery why did God use the term Slave and not indentured servant?
Leviticus Chapter 25 apparently hasn’t been read and pondered about by most of you
ОтветитьTodays society we don’t use slaves, instead we employ people and they work for a temporary time and are allowed to leaven whenever they want.
ОтветитьI’m seeing a lot of arguing in the comments that doesn’t seem very “Christian like”. Just saying…
Ответитьhe says slave trading was condemned..however, only the kidnapping of people was condemned and This law applies to the Jewish people. Elsewhere it tells Jews they can buy slaves from their neighboring countries.
Ответитьjust googleed all of that: everything false 😂
ОтветитьPeter 2:18
Leviticus 25:44-46
Colossians 3:22
Deuteronomy 20:11
This are verse I have been told that support slavery in the Bible.
These damn edomites have no right to speak on our Bible or to speak on our history.............
ОтветитьWay to go Frank! Awesome job defending slavery! WTF!??? And he said the Bible is great for morality lol
ОтветитьPathetic. Dishonest. The Turek gallop
ОтветитьThe verses he used in Exodus and Timothy are referring to kidnapping, not slavery. Slavery is never condemned in the bible.
ОтветитьWinsome smiles and calm voices don’t absolve these people from their poisoned belief. They CHOOSE to believe that God is good, because the Bible and all their church friends say so. They CHOOSE to believe that homosexuality should not be condoned and gay people should live their life without sexual intimacy, because the Bible and their church bros say so. They CHOOSE to believe in eternal damnation for those that don’t belief the exact right thing, regardless of the life they led, because the Bible and their cult say so. They CHOOSE to insult their own conscience and sensibilities, and those of others, by saying the available evidence actually suggests that belief in a literal resurrection/talking snake/boat filled with every animal on earth/people living 900 years/walking on water/etc is reasonable, they CHOOSE to believe a god is good, despite such a god creating something he knew would fail and lead billions to hell, but this is just because god is good.
Christians won’t agree or even understand the secular view I take, the fact that truth is actually discoverable by anyone through scientific conjecture, and not through a bunch of arbitrary, antiquated, unsophisticated bible passages written by manic depressives that lived 2000+years ago and was never shared by this god again. These beliefs must be excised, removed, mocked, and bullied just as Christians did to millions throughout history (if someone tries to use the Hitler atheist straw man argument, maybe the truth that Hitler was NOT an atheist would shut them up).
A thought experiment for you Christians that continue to choose superstition over reality, because you fear death and believe your “experiences” of God are truly divine and not simply evolved responses of dopamine/oxytocin in the context of a hardwired need for social security. A rule though, you are not allowed to cop out with winsome platitudes such as bowing to gods authority and saying that he works in mysterious ways. Let’s even say you are seeing this faith from the outside, not the inside. How is it that the god of Christianity felt the gumption to condemn butt sex 6 times (no god was actually needed, just a closet homosexual incel named Paul and an Old Testament book that is truly hate speech), he made laws regarding eating shellfish and wearing fabrics, he gave specific details on how burning meat and blood best pleases him, he condemned killing (unless he wanted to), but could not find the energy to slip in an 11th commandment of Thou Shalt Not Own People as Slaves. Very clear, very reasonable, but instead the Christian God said no, he can’t do this. He actually doesn’t think slavery is that bad, so long as the “master” follows a few rules. Do you get this? The God that created all rules of sin, couldn’t even condemn slavery in a clear statement.
Imagine the millions of lives forced from their home and onto slave ships… kids born into servitude and sold away from their family, the whippings and torture… how many children grew up only knowing suffering and being oppressed and owned like a pet, though without even a toy as the dog has… the slaves that managed to go north to find freedom, only to be caught and sent back to ownership… GOD KNEW ALL OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN.
Just one commandment, one hard view written down, would have neutered any Christian apologetic used in the past to support slavery. As an outsider, you would realize that these Christians worship the God that chose, yes CHOSE, for he is sovereign and all knowing, to not make such a commandment, and that we are foolish to question this. Rather, he allowed for specific rules governing slavery… could there be a better endorsement than regulation?
Imagine not being indoctrinated and brainwashed, just finding out about this faith, and finding this truth out. Like every secular, logical person that has a conscience, you would be repulsed by this abhorrence. You wouldn’t rationalize, you wouldn’t say “well god at least tried to make it more humane, I mean all of humanity did it,” before realizing this is a mistake because the whole idea of Christianity is going against culture anytime this is needed. You would deny anything moral about the “more humane” Christian slave owner, because he only gave 20 lashes instead of 25, and would be seen by these believers as deserving heaven so long as he repents, while any atheist slave would then go straight to eternal hell after already living in hell. Just like Adam, god created this slave knowing this would be the life and eternity of this soul.
Now stay in this position, do not go back to bigoted, repugnant believe, do not gaslight yourself into thinking you can’t trust your conscience and an old Iron Age book has all those answers for you. Don’t give in to the abusive doctrine of hell, or the bigoted views toward homosexuals. See the actual truth: the Abrahamic god is a complete sadist, and so is anyone who believes.
Frank is lying. Frank won't sue me for defamation because frank knows he's lying By omitting the passages that condone the evil and immoral practice of slavery in his book of magic
ОтветитьWhat a deceptive hypocrite, he goes back to the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries specifically, to the time of American slavery, but does not go further back, because he wants to paint a certain picture, but these hypocrites will never acknowledge the fact that slavery and servitude goes all the way back to ancient Mesopotamia and Sumeria over 6000 years ago, slavery and servitude existed since the beggining of human civilization, Israelites did not invent slavery or servitude, it already existed in the ancient near-east more than 3000 years ago because it was an economic necessity at that time, infact, according to scholars the entire economy of ancient Egypt mainly depended on slavery, it worked as a debt and poverty relief system, besides, these hypocrites never condemn or criticize the slavery that was practiced by other ancient near-eastern nations mentioned in Leviticus 25, surrounding the Israelites like the Canaanites and Hittites, and other nations like Egypt and Babylon, Why only the Bible? why only ancient Israelites? because they have an anti-Christian agenda.
ОтветитьSuck on that Dilahantay
ОтветитьThis frank dude doesn't even care about lying. All that he said are proven lies and he knows it
ОтветитьSome people believe what they see.
Others see what they believe.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
It was servantism
ОтветитьThe god of the bible was racist and absolutely loved evil
ОтветитьI have said many time Christians are extremely dishonest. This video clip is the testimony of my claim. The Exodus 21:16 was not about slavery, but Personal Injuries. The latter was very specific about how someone is to be treated if others were harmed. It has nothing to do with slavery even though they are in the same chapter. For instance, the verse 15 was talking about "Anyone who attacks their father and mother is to be put to death." This is clearly not about slavery. Both Frank and this video clip poster conveniently presented it in such a way that seemed to suggest the Bible was against slavery. Hell no! Talk about taking the verse out of context. Duh.
ОтветитьIn England, slavery was commonplace until the mid-11th Century. It is estimated by some that up to a third of Anglo-Saxon society was enslaved, with many more sold off to Ireland and Scandinavia. It was under William I, influenced by the Church, that the slave trade was abolished in England. In France, Saints Bathild and Eligius were notable for working towards the abolition of slavery, and in 1315 Louis X outlawed the practice altogether, influenced as he was by abolitionist Trinitarians.
The idea that slavery was supported by all or even most pre-modern Christians until William Wilberforce came along is simply ahistorical. In fact, the only society in the world that has a comparable record on abolitionism to Christian Europe is Japan.
The whole second book of the bible is about the freeing of slaves.
ОтветитьSlavery is the enemy of free will, the europeans who transliterate the scriptures was against free will not moses and the prophets.
ОтветитьTurek is wrong Leviticus 25:44-46 is chattel slavery it is not debt slavery at all.
Captive doesn't mean slave a captive is a captive wtf are we talking about right now..
Man face and body language said DEFEAT. 😅 He thought he had him
ОтветитьThen why does god forbid israelites from being owned as slaves 😂
ОтветитьI like how Turek just concedes the point at the end: The OT was bad and needed revision in the form of the NT. So yes, indeed, the almighty creator of the universe did in fact not get his book right the first time around. Also: Lev 25, 44-46
ОтветитьTo handle that topic in 42 seconds is crazy!
ОтветитьThis is a tough one to get past. Yet Jesus Christ is still Lord
Ответить
