I always wanted to visit Berlin, also the Eastern part. Always fascinated me.

The German army fought like lions. It’s not their fault Hitler was crazy.

I never understood how a blood thirsty subhuman known as Stalin considered germans as inhumane facist 😂

I’ve been studying WWII, especially the European war, in depth for 15 years. Thank you so much for this in-depth map view of the battle and contrasting it with a map of the area today! Absolutely fantastic! As an American, I’m so glad Stalin was SO adamant that only Soviet Troops take Berlin as if the Soviets lost 100,000 men, 50K might have been our boys! Thanks Uncle Joe for being so stubborn!

Interesting how Adolf wouldn’t make an honorable laststand/death in the reichstag But was hiding in a bunker like a rat. Much like the Hamas boys in Gaza today who take helpless hostages into the tunnels rather than fight like men. Rats and vermin to be sure.

"By mid-April 1945, the outcome of the war in Europe was in no doubt." That was supremely funny. It was in no doubt by mid-1943, obvious by February 1943, and understood by the perceptive (like Hitler) by December 1941.

you have slightly downplayed the losses of the Germans. almost 400 thousand of them died there. where is the Soviet Army without taking cities by the anniversary date.... when you stop repeating this nonsense. they "wanted" to capture by May 1 and but in the end captured by 2nd. and what ? someone was sent to Kolyma??

When the Russians entered the Reichstag Adolf Hitler and Eva Hitler were just ash and fragments of bone in a bomb crater having suicided then being cremated by prior arrangement, to avoid the gruesome and macabre trophy spectacle that befell Benito Mussolini and Clara Petacci.

My dad was wounded in Germany in February 1945. Like most WWII veterans, he almost never talked about it. He died in 1976, and for all the years since I have wished I was able to talk with him about it. Band of Brothers gave me my first real idea of what combat in Germany that winter was like.

Berliner here: Outstanding movie, I can only recommend to visit the Reichstag when coming to Berlin as well as the Flaktower at Humboldthain. When walking through the Reichstag you can see the old soviet graffitis, it sends shivers down my spine everytime I walk by.
