I guess it's realistic for the time but why couldn't they just cast someone 18+ who looks young 😭the concept is disturbing in itself but the fact that they had an actual 12 year old play violet is disgusting. you can portray unsettling things without bringing kids into it and forcing them to do scenes like the ones in this movie. I'm 17 and I don't know anyone around my age who wouldn't be disgusted at the thought of acting this out, I can't imagine how it was for brooke

God I’ve never seen this movie but it looks awful.

This proves everyone in Hollywood is drinking draino or liquid plumber.

This movie was awesome.

The only thing worse than the acting are the accents.

I understand they wanted to show how it was back in those days which is the brutal truth, but they should of have used an older actress that just looked young

Hey, instead of ranting about a movie made in the SEVENTIES depicting events that happened in the 19TWENTIES, maybe speak out against the CURRENT laws allowing marriage to children, and NEW laws allowing children to work in dangerous conditions.
...These laws exist exclusively in red states, but I am sure that is just a coincidence. (Sarcasm.)

Hot take: it’s disgusting because we know what they’re talking about.
There’s no inappropriate touching in this scene, she’s fully dressed, and no one says anything outright vulgar. This scene by itself doesn’t make me hate Brooke Shields’ parents.

Whew! This clip is all kinds of wrong. I'm a horror film buff and this clip provokes more emotion than any of them ever have. Makes me feel something uncomfortablely wrong is happening right before my eyes like I felt after watching "Cuties".
