Screw the fob.
I'll switch back to a regular key.
The technology isn't worth it.

My 2016 kia optima was broken into last September in Detroit, around Rosedale park and they couldn’t break the steering column as it is a push to start model. The thief left the screwdriver and I submitted it to Detroit police, they popped my rear driver side window, since I have tints all the way around it didnt make a noise, but they also soo try this method to pop the trunk or rear pull down, which was crazy as my laptop was in the back seat they didn’t even steal that. I learned n bought a farraday box.

Technology backfire. All of these hedonistic (Cough!) "Conveniences" will end up destroying lives en-masse. Online identity theft to steal your bank accounts, keyfob reprogramming to steal your car and the Government wants to introduce digital currency? Once crooks figure out how to use AI to steal, we're all fooked. God help us all.

Why are some manufacturers on the list and some like Ford and Toyota and BMW and Audi are not. Looks like the Manufacturers need to step up their security game. Or people are going to buy the better protected vehicle.

Just buy a thick chain and wrap it around the steering wheel and the brake pedal ☝🏽. You can also disconnect a major wire connection that won’t allow the car to start also 😎- you can always out smart a criminal, just put in the work 😁!!

My daughter car is stolen that way on our video. He bent down in front of the car and then he went to the door and he stood there a minute and the door opened and he stole the car Honda made my daughter pay six months payments without a car then they told her, they were receiving a check for some reason they stopped the check and then Honda ruined her credit saying that she missed two payments. When Honda said they were receiving total monies from the insurance. Then they call her up and say we found the car go pick it up. The car was in New York State thank God she has enough sense not to pick it up because the insurance company calls later and says the car is totaled no seats no engine, don’t buy a Honda. My daughter has been buying Honda for 910 years and this is how they treat her lie to her. Tell her to go pick up Total car we’re gonna buy a Buick.

They keep saying “…unlock key fob…”. The key fob can’t be unlocked. Rather, the signal being transmitted from the key fob is amplified as it sits in your house by the electronic box being referred to in the video. This amplification tricks the vehicle into thinking the key is in the possession of the person with the electronic box/ stealing your car.

As I typed this the guy switched to credit scores, and loans. Huh?!?! Anyway… just thought I’d clear that bad explanation up.

pro tip: ADD a hidden , start switch button, somewhere....meaning this hidden button must be pressed, along with key turn to start or start button. Thieves are usually in a hurry and wont have time to look for a hidden button / switch ....and most likely won't know that you have one. This is nothing new, have been around since the 40s and 50s i think,

Listen to me! Any remote control you use, car, tv, Garage Door included! When you push the button, a scanner can pickup the signal and a thief can program their own universal remote.

In Canada the RCMP has told the citizens to leave our keys at the front door so they will be easily accessed by thieves. We are not permitted to defend ourselves and our property, so I guess the cops here don’t want to be bothered with pesky complaints.

Manufacturers have known about he FOB vulnerability for at least 7 years. It was an issue when I bought a new 2017 vehicle. It prompted me to buy a lower model of car that still required a physical key to start it. (FOB only locked/unlocked door). It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING that manufacturers have STILL NOT FIXED IT AFTER 7 YEARS!!!

Anything you can put your key fob in that blocks your key fob from starting your car would also stop the car thieves possibly making a bag out of that bubble wrap foil looking insulation you can find it at hardware stores and put your key fob in it when you're not using your key fob it's cheap put your key fob in it and try to use it if it doesn't work for you it won't work for the car thieves 🤔

All these solutions are great but they really defeat the benefit of these stupid key fibs. If you ask me they make cars cost more as well as a rip off when you lose one. Mine costs $450 to replace. I like what Tesla does. Uses your phone (in addition to a card). And Teslas are the least stolen cars.

There is a solution-that because you lock the vehicle with the electronic (button on the fob) to lock the vehicle take the skeleton key and lock the doors via the door handle and an electronic signal can't be picked up-they'd have to pick the lock with a screwdriver to get in-not tried and tested & it is a possibility that could be a solution.

I'm in the UK and on Halloween a guy with a mask on, paper overalls and gloves walked onto our drive, remotely opened our car and drove it away - ten seconds from start to finish. Later we found out that they had accessed the (password protected) Ford system 10 minutes before the theft and did a master reset (possibly to remove the tracking feature?). The car industry needs to up its game because the Police response here is just to give you a crime number.

A. My keyfob is a direct program between it and my truck, involving the ignition key to program it❗

B. IT WON'T BYPASS AN AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEM‼️

Oh yeah... THE KEYFOB ITSELF DOESN'T LOCK 🤔

Years ago you had to use a key to get in your car, then came remote locking/unlocking by pressing buttons, then came the friend to car thief’s - keyless entry, like these cars in the report. People’s laziness drives the car companies to make it easy for lazy people who do not even want the effort to have a key fob in their hand. Car manufacturers could stop this type of theft, by not making push button start/ keyless entry. Peugeot / Citroen did originally have a code that only the owner can get from them for programming new keys, this provided better security.

Add a hidden switch for the fuel pump, preferably to the ground wire. Flip the switch to disable the fuel pump and no one can drive away with your car.
