We are good food looking also. Apart from knowledge distribution to kids. We 2 brothers are there to take care of the business. Happily with all the burden of the responsibilities that come with it.

My father was a cooper for50 years. He was replaced by machinery and was left with repairing the broken barrels. Good to see hand made barrels are still in demand … must be better than machine made BTW he discouraged me from becoming a cooper much to my regret

It's an interesting process, but as they said, everybody plays it close to the vest. If that keeps up, then it will continue to be a dying craft. I'm for sharing the information, at least enough to get a new cooperage going in the right direction. The cream will always rise to the top, in any industry.

You specifically said HAS to be be made of American White oak barrel. Where is the rules of bourbon does it say anything other than “oak”?
