Alien - H. R. Giger's Beautiful Monster

I lived in Switzerland, one day we went to a castle and his museum was there, we were going to get in, but it was a very inviting place with really creepy naked aliens so we didn’t. Only then I realised what it was about.

Very good video, I only wish you hadn't used non-Giger alien designs as examples. The creature in the thumbnail is from AvP, it's actually a pretty unreliable and ugly interpretation of the alien imo. Even Giger himself has publicly said how disappointed he is in most of the alien designs after the first movie. Shamefully, they didn't invite him back for Aliens or any other sequels, and his work on Alien 3 went unused.

Giger also designed and built the 'Space Jockey' in the derelict ship. Unfortunately, Scott messed with its design (cleaning it up, as he called it) for Prometheus, turning it into something less interesting.

What I hate about most modern monster/alien movies is that the created is usually just a cgi mass of tentacle things that has no memorable, iconic or enduring design at all. The alien from Alien/Aliens on the other hand is one of the all-time greats and instantly recognisable.

Alien is great. Aliens is absolutely the most fantastic Sci fi film in history. Ridley Scott made a great, fantastic film. James Cameron created a masterpiece.

It is unfortunate that H.R. Giger had a net worth of less than $5 million when he died. Most of us would be fine with that, but he created a product that has grossed billions and he should have prospered from it more. :-/

I have the chance to live 50 km near the HR Giger Museum. Very impressive artist 👌👌

My parents both being artists themselves held a copy of the Necronomicon in our house hold when I was a kid. It spoke to me in a way which I didn't understand at the time, but now can explain as true humanity. The twisted, malformed creatures and biomechanical compositions really speaks to the true nature of man that lies merely beneath the surface of everyone you know. I heard that a lot of his designs were inspired from his own night terrors which makes a lot of sense to me as I myself experience similar imagery within my own dreamscape.

We are all connected by a transcendental force like it or not and we all share a side both dark and perverse yet equally captivating and enticing.

Giger is a , " Greeble Monster." :O)

I'm angered that Hollywood never truly credited HR Giger ( the Man himself has stated so).
