10 Long Gone YouTube Features

The internet used to be so much more fun. There’s no where for people to customize their pages anymore, it seems. Except tumblr

And now they removed community caption and dislike button. These features are so important.

What's funny is that they barely even add any new features. They just keep removing the old ones. They also got rid off the "Sort by oldest" option for no reason, as well as the dislike counter.

Nobody remembers this but you were able to automatically add recently uploaded Videos of a Channel to a Playlist

One thing they've removed several years ago was the Community Contributions.
I was mad when they removed this because it made subtitles much easier to do. And if you didn't want it on your channel you could just disable it.

What's funny is that they aren't even adding any new features. They just keep removing the old ones.

Good news:
you can actually restore annotations with the "Annotations Restored" add-on.
That add-on even lets you click on annotation links to other videos, and deactivate and reactivate annotations whenever you want, so it is more than just a visual thing.

"Rate 5 stars, subscribe, add to favorites!!!!"

To the most nostalgic ones are the 5 star system and the personalized channels. I was very young because i was born in 2001, but i do remember those things before they were removed.

Imagine if all of these features returned (though I only vividly remember the annotations)

I may be a child but I remember annotations.. I like how popularmmos always specified the videos opened in a new tab

I miss Bulletins, Live Sharing, and inbox. Had a lot of funny interactions from those. Also, being able nuke inactive/closed channels off of my subscribers list was convenient.

To me, the reason for removing the 5 star rating is total B.S., since they've removed the numbers for the dislike button. Constructive criticism and feedback like that old rating system has been overruled in favor of turning us into a hive mind to weed out people they don't want around on this platform. There were plenty of videos rated between 2 and 4 stars, it was genuine and gave people an idea of where they needed improvement in their content.

Does anybody still remember 3D videos? As in the ones that require 3D glasses to view correctly?

if annotations were removed, why do we still have the option to turn it on?
