So, if the Death Star has a reactor, and channels it's energy to "kyber" crystals it isn't a super laser weapon, but rather a monstrous lightsaber that needs time to cool off and recharge , am I right?

I wonder if the Death Star's superlaser actually works like a huge railgun. You can see clearly here the firing process, the red laser appears in the center of the barrel.. Then the chamber fills up with some kind of green gas or other matter that gets heated by the laser. Then clumps of this matter get accelerated to near light speed in the barrel, probably with some kind of incredibly powerful magnetic field.

These individual "beams" of matter then combine into a much bigger "projecticle" that has an incredible amount of energy stored in.

So essentially, it would be somewhat similar to phasers from Star Trek, that operate by firing a "stream" of particles into the target.

So you basically build a space station surrounding a small dwarf star and you have the death star powered by solar flares

They REALLY should have shown the Death Star exiting hyperspace and causing all manner of gravitational pandemonium occuring in the wake of something that large appearing out of nowhere that fast so close to the planet and fleet.

This movie successfully made the Death Star scary

Just imagine looking up at the sky and just seeing that death machine and knowing you and countless of others are going to die and there's nothing you can do about it

I love the death star and all, but the question of what if the empire decided not to build it and instead used the funds to expand its military even further still lingers in my mind. 3. Wouldn't the nuclear-like fireball caused by the Death Star cause the shield to collapse, even if just in the vicinity?
