My auntie married a US airmen and lived on the base town in Suffolk… driving 2 hrs in a car and everyone and everything is American suddenly was amazing for me as child… allegedly he let some kid I know sit in a F14 once! I hear he had a decent time doing it… 😂🤫Looool… one downside though my uncle made me a bears fan which was ok in 1985 but slowly dawned on me as the years went on he had sold me a dud team for life!… probably lucky he wasn’t from Cleveland or ot would be even worse! he should be prosecuted not for the f14 incident .. but for giving me Mitch Trubiisky 😂😂😂💙

From the first flight of the wright bros in 1903 to the moon landing in 1969 was only 66 years... that's about how long it's been since the sr-71 was made. I wonder what absolute insane progress we've made but just have no clue about.

The Farnborough air display radar picked it up 30 miles away, apparently the radar reflective paint was 'damaged'. There was some tittering from the crowd.

So disappointing this program has chosen to further propagate the misinformation of the "RS-71" and that Johnson switched it up. That is pure hogwash. This program even interviewed Col. Rich Graham, who clearly debunked this myth in his books, and yet they could not get it right.

I remember being in elementary school when we were on a bus for a field trip and our teacher announced we would be visiting the blackbird on our fieldtrip to Tucson. All of us who were air geeks lost it. Seeing it in person made it feel somewhat fake. All the avionics and engines were removed but still a cool site.

1986 in Vancouver British Columbia, sitting in my office I heard an unworldly howl rapidly increasing in intensity, I ran to my windows overlooking the harbor just in time to see the SR-71 screaming UNDER the Lion's Gate suspension bridge ...it flew past just above the water then shot up with both afterburners lit and disappeared in a few seconds. The next day I was attending the Abbotsford Airshow and there she was in all her glory. Parked on the apron surrounded by barriers dripping fuel from the wings. The attending Russians were just standing as close as they could get staring at what they had only heard about,. That Vancouver flypast was the single most impactful audio and visual event in my lifetime.

This plane was so secret that no one was allowed to talk about it. That was after the 1950s before
the sonic boom was an issue. People looked up to see what was new. So they just flew above the atmosphere at MACH 3. That boom would bring down a city,

There is no doubt the SR was brilliant and I love it but consider this: BA's Concorde did the trip twice daily from New York or Washington to London for 27 years in 3h:15 - 3h:30 with a record flight of 2h 57 mins and all with up to 100 passengers on board drinking champagne and having a nice lunch. No space helmets, no pooping in your suit and it super-cruised at 60,000' and Mach 2.0. Something the SR couldn't do...

I had a brilliant flight on G-BOAA in 1999 when the cockpit door was open and the pilots and Flight Engineer welcomed visitors! (And Concorde was profitable for BA for 20 years!)

I don't know where they got their facts but they're wrong on all kinds. If you watch interviews of pilots that flew this plane there absolutely wrong or multiple facts on this video. This is not a good representation of that plane or the missions that flew. The facts of it flying missions over Russia it did this video says it didn't The facts of the fuel tanks leaking that they had to be refueled instantly after flying take off is false. Not everything you see on the internet is true definitely not this channel.
