Hey, thank you for clarification on Hex in this video! Also I would like to add a list of things to check if they are true and I am not making a mistake.
The most useful Hex to make in combat is STR since it helps you shove and reduces the change you will get shoved.
Hex used on DEX allows you to have a higher initiative roll than your opponent, increasing your chances to get your companions to have a shared turn.
Hex used on WIS allows you to have better stealth rolls in combat when you try to hide in plain sight of the enemy (the red cone in front of them).
I couldn't find any other use for the other hexes since my knowledge and understanding of the system is limited. Would you mind if you debate what I commented is true and possibly pin the comment if it checks out and add more knowledge to this list? (Maybe people know info on hexes for CON, INT and CHA)
Sometimes I'll have a dialogue roll where the roll to pass is 10, my bonuses add up to +10 or more, but the roll ends up being 1 🤔 I always skip the roll animation but does rolling a 1 not have your bonuses applied? 😤
ОтветитьHow do you get such in depth customization at character select or was this only for EA?
ОтветитьSo as a noob. What is the hex spell used for then? In dialogue?
ОтветитьWas it really necesary to show off your video full of spoilers?
ОтветитьI am only more confused by your comments on Hex than I was before. "Hex gives disadvantage on ability checks, not saving throws, [so don't get it twisted]" - I thought I had it right before but please correct me if I'm wrong as I've never used the spell yet.
so Hex would NOT affect:
Magic Missile, a spell that "always hits", so the game skips doing an attack roll entirely.
Fireball, a Saving Throw spell. Not an Ability Check or an Attack Roll.
Hex WOULD affect:
Fire Bolt, a cantrip specifically designated as an "Attack Roll", for the 1d6 damage extra
Stealth? Lifting something? Picking locks? More useless things to debuff during combat? Seems like it literally does not matter what you pick for the debuff, since it isn't going to come into play regardless. Are there any ability checks in combat in 5e or BG3 even??? Like throwing stuff, or jumping at least?
I've got nearly 1,000hours in early access BG3 and that experience only reinforces how good I think CVGs explanations are. they really couldn't be clearer. For those that haven't played BG£ much, or at all, listen to this, rewind and listen again - it's gold.
ОтветитьYour hex explanation was stellar! Thank you for adding that point. Question, to give disadvantage on stealth check should I hex WIS or hex DEX?
Ответитьthank you again for more awesomeness to share! im now looking for a build that can disarm enemies with a ranged weapon, is good at moving arround, does not need melee combat and can take a few hits. so i think i have to pick fighter for doing the first things correct?
edit
Or do you maybe have allready build something like that? i only barely remember something like that from patch 2, but i can not find it
re edit
i just found it , it was from patch 5 the control archer! do you think thats still the best way to do that? 9r was there another build that comes to your mind?
Constitution certainly has a skill associated with it, and it's very important: concentration.
ОтветитьI love yo... Great video!
ОтветитьCan’t wait to see more of your guides and lesser known outcomes when the game launches :)
ОтветитьGreat job! ONE Day!!! Not starting as a monk, but that will be my second play through (I think), so looking forward to following your first glorious play through! I'm going to start with a Bard skill monkey with expertise the Perception skill. Between him (Cantos) and Shadowheart, I hope to not miss many secret doors, traps, and other goodies!
ОтветитьI just have to wait 1 more day and a few hours until i can play as Astarian and romance Shadowheart.
ОтветитьSpeaking of the Hex spell, how do you make use of it beyond simply adding damage? Which abilities should you target, and when? I usually pick Strength, on the off chance I might try to shove a target around, but I honestly can't think of many other straight up ability checks that aren't tied to skills.
ОтветитьThanks, due to.your content Ive purchased BG3. Nver.played D&D.
Would this work as a team Wyll as Charm/Dps, Karlach frontline, and Shadowheart as Support/lockpicking.
Playing as a Wood Elf/Cirlce of the Land. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Any tips on most useful proficiency to pick up vs least useful? For instance, I can't think of acrobatics ever coming up other than as defense against shoves for non strength based characters.
ОтветитьI actually did not know that about the Hex Spell. Thank you. Peace
ОтветитьStart playing tomorrow can't wait.
ОтветитьThanks for all the tips and guide videos 🙂
