You need a inline chlorinator pentair 320. And change your sand to Zeosand. All problems solved.

Pool newbie here. I move in this October to a house with a small above ground pool. Are these chemicals safe? I was assuming we change the water as we dont know the past owners but arent you just putting chemicals into dirty water so it 'appears' clean? Our water currently looks like apple juice - I cant imagine it splashing into my eyes or mouth once the chemicals turn it blue...

You need to learn how to properly take care of a pool correctly. There is a process of when to use certain chemicals. Your ladder has rusted legs your pump is not going to last long if you don't learn quickly. As you said in the video you thought your seven in one was a 3 but it was only a two. Please pay closer attention to the labeling it's step #2 not a rating. I have a 15,000 gallon pool I don't have to do much but enjoy my pool and I never have to flood my yard or drain the pool off, most especially as I add chemicals to the pool. If I was making a glass of chocolate milk, I would not want to pour the milk off while adding the chocolate. What a waste of chemicals and money 🤑. You should test your pools pH everyday. They sell pool test kits at Walmart. Your pH is way off with the green and all the rust. Always check and balance the chemicals proper chemicals at the proper time. Use a vacuum once a week or every 3 days as needed a use a brush and net. Or go ahead and get a trampoline

Who knew? Add chlorine to the pool and algae will die? People need to stop acting like clear pool water is a mysterious thing. And 52.5% available chlorine isn't very strong. There's better stuff out there.

To preserve the life of your vinyl pool, it would be a good idea to pre-dissolve this product in a bucket and then either pour the bucket in (if you're strong enough to lift such a bucket) or toss pitchers of the mix into the pool.

I'm not sure what else is in this product, but the main ingredient is obviously Calcium Hypochlorite (AKA Cal-Hypo.) For the average pool owner, aside from the use of a salt water generator, there are essentially three ways to add chlorine to your pool: Cal Hypo, Sodium Hypochlorite (AKA liquid bleach,) and dichlor/trichlor (slightly different but very similar products.)

For all of these methods, you are not only adding chlorine, but you are also adding something else into your pool -- Calcium Hypochlorite adds calcium, liquid bleach ( sodium hypochlorite) adds salt, and dichlor/trichlor add cyanuric acid (AKA "conditioner.")

Additionally, Cal Hypo and liquid bleach (as well as salt water generation) raise your pH (basic) while dichlor/trichlor lowers your pH (acidic.)

You should make your decisions on what products to use based upon your current water chemistry, which you can get tested at any local pool store or by ordering a test kit (store it inside.) If your pool's calcium is too high, avoid using Cal Hypo. If your cyanuric acid is too high, avoid using dichlor/trichlor, etc.

Since you are using a salt water generator, which raises the pH & doesn't add cyanuric acid into the pool, it would be a good idea to shock it 2-3 times a year with 1 pound (2 lbs if it's green like this) of dichlor/trichlor granulated shock, which is available at any local pool store. (Stir it into a bucket of water as explained before.) This will help keep your cyanuric acid in the 50-100 ppm range and help to offset everything that you've got raising your pH.

Once your cyanuric acid is in this range, any additional shock treatments could be done with liquid bleach (unscented & unthickened) or this cal hypo product that you're using here. If your calcium starts getting too high (above 275-300 ppm for vinyl,) you'll have to either quit using this cal hypo product (and go almost exclusively to liquid bleach) or drain the pool.

I realise this is an old video but folks still make the same mistakes.
An appropriate sized Inline UV filter, A dark coloured bubble pool cover easy to make to size, it slows the algae growth from direct sunlight and heats the pool from the sun free. Tree spores & leaves shouldn't enter the pool hence all reduce your maintenance & maximise your enjoyment.😉

Liquid chlorine, muriatic acid and baking soda is all that is needed. That and a GOOD test kit. 10-15 minutes per day tops. Crystal clear pool ALL summer every summer. Now in my 19th year of doing this. All guest claim it is the cleanest pool they ever have seen!
