Well if I won't be avble to buy 5800x3d by the time when I'll save up for it, it will be a good with am4 that also have 3d cache.

This is all wonderful and great.. but who actually uses a 4090 with a 5700x3d on a 1080p monitor? What are the gains like on a more realistic setup? like a 3060 or 4060 @1080p? Is the 5700x3d worth the upgrade @1080p over buying a far more expensive 4070? Or 4080?
I understand why a 4090 @1080p is used for testing CPU's but I'd love to see the same charts with mid tier gpu's

Also I plan to make my AM4 build last for a loooong time. 5800X3D, 128gb Ram, 7900XTX, and 4TB storage. I really want to change motherboards as the Gigabyte B550 board no longer has the thunderbolt card I need for some expansion I wanted to do. I think I'll have to change motherboards and find a Asus B550 Creator board that has thunderbolt built in.

Would you pair a 5800x3d with a rtx 4070 super or ti super for 1440p gaming or is this CPU to slow and should be rather paired with a weaker GPU?

besides finding boards that give usb C front ports am4 is a totally solid platform for years to come.

Should i go for 5700 or 7600 build?

I just bought a new 5800x3d for £250 to put in my am4 build to replace my 14700k build that uses too much power, and won't run properly on W10 (I hate W11) and saw gains with my 7900xtx over the I7 in the games I play.

At this rate, I'll be on AM4 as long as I was on AM3+... 10 YEARS!!!!

AM4 is like Mercedes in the '80s, or Nokia in '00s. With my 5900x trading blows with 7700x, I won't be looking for a new platform for another 2-3 years.

Love AM4 and the pricing. This means that You can pretty much just get some used PC with AM4 for 200-300 bucks, swap likely a 2600 with 5700X3D, put in 32gb RAM kit into it, and pickup new 7800XT or used 6800XT. This is a banger PC for the price and would be competent in 1440p.

Given how important AI will become in the future, I wonder whether it really makes sense to invest in a CPU without an NPU now?

Great insight, thank you! When I bought my PC in 2021 I was a bit disappointed knowing I'd built on a discontinued platform. I'd never have imagined parts still being released for it in 2024, given how long it had already been supported.

I recommend AM4 quite often so DDR4 RAM can be reused and salvaged and there is still upgradeabilty within the AM4 CPU lineup should needs change :))

the 7700 is on sale for $199 on amazon right now and is a Ryzen 5 part. Seems like a good buy to me.

This is a annoying good cpu. I am on a b350 with a a 3950x, with 3600mhz cl18 so I seriously consider the 5700x3d with a b550 board. I play at 3440x1440 144hz on a 6800xt so the difference between the fps on a 5700x3d to a 14900k would probably not be that much. With next gpu upgrade either being a 4080/7900 if they come down in price when the 5000 series get announced.

It's really tough to upgrade in my country, as will be getting these products to physically get here too, but I am at least glad the support for AM4 exists. If I'm lucky I might be able to upgrade from my 2600 to something better either this or next year because some of these Vegas render times are not great and I can feel my system STRUGGLING with BG3 at times lmao

I was thinking about an upgrade for a few moths, going from my 5600X to something that would last at least 2/3 more years, but the prices of 5800X3D were .. not great (Czech republic). Looking at this review, I was very happy, cause it looked like a good way to go.. aaand they just discounted the 5800X3D so much, that the difference is only roughly 17 dollars (between 5700X3D and 5800X3D). So I think I'm gonna grab it while the discount lasts. Or? Am I making the wrong move here? I do not believe, that the prices will go much lower (it's cca 311 dollars for 5800X3D now, it was around 360 before that)

I've just bought a 5700X3D for £239 replacing a 5700X. The 5700X has been used as an upgrade to a RYZEN 4600G and raised FPS in RUST from 90 to 120. X3D should be here this afternoon.

If you have a number of AM4 systems then it's quite handy to be able to upgrade the CPU and use the removed CPU as an upgrade to another AM4 system.

The AM4 platform still remains a top choice when the GPU's cost "a liver" and all the games want at least 1440p resolution. That's why AMD came out with this CPU. To give a alternative to the 5800x3D at a more budget friendly price without investing in a new platform where the MB's and the CPU's are more expensive. I think it will take about 1.5 years until the new AM5 is going to be a standard. Until then, the 5700+5800x3D is the choice to go with.

Steve, when you have a 3800x on x570 ultra, of the 2 x3d chips, of the R7 line up. The 5800x3d.
I agree that the x3d chips are the last in socket upgrade to get a little more out of your rig.

Wich would you recommend the most knowing the 400mhz clock difference beeing impactfull or not on 1440p 60+ fps

AM4 still has a lot of life left in it. I'm still using the 3600x with a good gpu and I'm getting all the frames I need in gaming. I keep thinking about upgrading but then I just ask myself why? I don't even need to yet. My pc is super fast still. When this cpu drops to below £200 I might consider it though.

I just built a few days ago my compact matx am4 build, I'm loving my 5600x. That and 12400f are my absolute best budget CPUs for price to performance
