Skyrim: Special Edition - 10 Things To Know When Starting a New Game

I was surprised when you talked about having a place to store your stuff as a new player. Why didn't you mention Anise cabin. It is so close to the 1st town you visit (Riverwood) plus the general store sets you up by going in that direction anyway.

I just started for the first time. Proper excited.

I'm playing Skyrim for the first time and it feels really good to finally get to it, I postponed it for so long for several different reasons over the years (mainly being poor and choosing nintendo consoles over the competition) and I was afraid I wasn't going to fall in love with the game as all my friends did back when the original was released... luckily I have a great PC now, and with the help of some UI mods I'm having a blast.
I recently even finished BOTW for the second time (first time was in 2017) and I can see now why it used to be called "Skyrim Zelda". It feels so good to jump from one good game to another. And best of all: I will get all the Skyrim memes now.

What the hell you can buy a house in this game I'm in my midgame and i just sell all my weapons and armors to make space in my inventory and you're now telling me i could store my stuff in a house

10. Need a place to stay?
Nobody ACTUALLY needs a place to stay and you can always afford a room at an inn

9. Use a companion.
Game is wayyy too easy with a companion

5. Don't make the attempt.
Why tf not? This is Skyrim, there is no actual risk of losing anything.

3. Don't run a jack-of-all-trades
"Don't play the game however you want"

1. Save save save
Invalidates advice #5 and also takes all the fun and immersion out of the game when you're manually saving before and after every encounter.

6 years late, but to add to this:

-If you own Anniversary Edition, there are a number of homes added that you can access free of charge., my personal favorite being Myrwatch, which is automatically marked on your map.

-An autosave is always made after you step off the carriage in Helgen, so if you want to skip the entire carriage sequence, then load that autosave.

-Don't sell the Paragons you obtain from Forgotten Vale. These aren't just some cool egg-looking gems to sell, these can be used at the Paragon Platform near one of the wayshrines of Auriel which you can use to get gems, gold, potions, and even a unique shield.

-Save before any dungeon/battle/boss encounter. You may think you're unstoppable, but you're wrong. You always have the chance to die unless you are using the Fortify Resto loop and have godly gear. You can very easily be overwhelmed.

-If you are looking for the Daedra Walker achievement, do not take the Rueful Axe from Clavicus Vile. Choose to spare Barbas at the end of the quest and take the mask, as the axe does not count as a Daedric artifact.

Only other thing that's good to buy with gold is spell tombs, idk how often other people come across em, but I see them in like 1 in 10 dungeons, and usually its duplicates, I'll see like 4 firebolts in a row

I tried defeating that frosttroll, while being so cold that my healthbar was less that half. When I came back later suddenly a dragon appeared and that troll killed that motherfuckin dragon and then I killed the troll. that was kinda awesome

Get the Sorana Vampire as companion and never let her go…

Tip 11, Magic damage doesn't scale into end game the way melee/archery damage does. So basically being a Mage is hard mode.
Tip 12, No matter what kind of char you plan to build, the game will subtley lure you into being a Stealth Archer (which is OP as heck). Don't let it! Be yourself. :)

In the alftand there are mines that let you get soul gems call grid mine you can find them before you go for the dragon scroll all over the place I played for years and just found them

I play legendary mode and I quicksave every second I run into an enemy.

I don’t really buy much from the vendors or traders unless I think an item is worth it! Overall I buy all the arrows they got or as much as I can afford! I travel with Lydia so she can carry all my burdens🤣 and I get rich along the way! It’s a good thing you don’t pay her or the farm workers septum’s like in GTA 5 Online where you pay your staff! Now with the upgrade of fire arrows and new armor and homes and taming wild horses, fishing…I’m playing Skyrim more this week than in the last 2 years! Still…with all the new stuff it would be great to buy a boat, and able to drive it across the waters of Tamerial!

Another reason to save, The game crashes especially with mods, even without mods though.

And do an actual SAVE not the Quick Save periodically!
