Good information for safety
ОтветитьPerson 1: Huh? Hooks and ... what? Person 2: Tongs. Person 1: You’re welcome.
ОтветитьOne thing I believe isn't right is washing the bite wound. Apparently you're supposed to leave that alone as it makes identification of the snake more difficult as they can't take a swab of venom from venom sitting on skin at the bite site.
Another thing is there's no point wasting energy trying to identify the size or colour of the snake, as the hospital will not go by what you think the snake is no matter who you are, they will do a test to identify the type of venom.
Not only this, but doctors will not typically be able to identify a snake by a size and colour description anyway, they usually don't know more about that subject than the general public, and snake size and colouration of a species can be very variable anyway, so that the size and colouration of your snake might be similar to another type of snake. They will never go by a description, they will always do a test to determine the type of snake. If you took the snake into hospital with you the doctors wouldn't even look at it. Trying to catch the snake will only serve to waste energy as well as drastically increase the risk of further envenomations.
How about NOPE
ОтветитьTHANK YOU! That was an outstanding educational resource.
Ответитьa shotgun works fairly well for removing them
ОтветитьHave to watch this because animal control won't come to house unless we catch the snake ourselves so a big thanks to lazy people from Southern California
Ответитьthe snake hooks should not be used except by an expert-you will get bit. They went way overboard on "making sure no damage comes to the snake" and risked peoples lives because of it. Using the hooks such as with the coral snake clearly showed a bite could have occured and the situation was out of control. Also they make leather gloves - at harbor frieght they sell tig welding gloves that have a solid colar up the wrist. There is absolutely ZERO reason to not have gloves on.
Ответитьanother note. Keep in mind that these snakes are being removed from populated areas. And then instructed to release them back into the populated area. In situations like that its likely best to kill the snake. There are alot out there and vast areas where they live by the millions. If a rare or endangered snake is in fact encountered then a person can choose differently. What should not be done however is such as a hiker out and about--kills snakes out in nature that would be wrong. If a person is on a well known heavily used trail near a city the snake should likely best be killed. I choose humans over snakes. Also they talk about death rate being low. Consider that most of the time huge amounts of tissue are killed that can result in lost limbs or fingers or deformations such as gigantic pits being left on a person for life. I like the snakes and see them often when hiking and could easily kill them but I dont. The patterns are beautiful and they are an advanced animal not like a bug or worm. A note on boots and jeans. Not all people can buy snake boots or have gaiters on them all the time. The fact is that if you wear good hiking boots and jeans that HANG LOOSE the fangs tend to push the fabric and you likely will be spared being envenomated. The impulse bite may well be dry-remember that a snake does not bite like a bulldog. The short sleeve tshirts and bare arms? thats because they are experts. Bare skin like that NEVER is a benefit. If you have a long sleeve shirt to put on anything is better than nothing.
ОтветитьVery nice video
ОтветитьI like the way this video was done. Thanks
ОтветитьI need a hook
Ответитьin short do not do not do not do not do anything when bitten
ОтветитьEstupido
ОтветитьEstupido
Ответитьthis wasn’t mentioned but this is important. the snake should not be relocated more than a few blocks from where it was found. the snake will not recognize the area and will die as a result of this.
Ответитьvery useful
ОтветитьThat snake thicc
ОтветитьGreat job! Very good techniques and safety measures!
ОтветитьWait... is this dangerous?
ОтветитьA power house instructional full of pertinent detailed information and quality visuals. I really learned a lot. Thank you.
ОтветитьVery good video!
Great grandpa (95) was recently attacked by a rattler just west of you guys in Hill City. Thank God the snake missed his leg and only got a bite of his pant leg.
They said it was of a viper variety that specifically will go out of it's way to attack. Grandpa thought he killed it, but a day or two later, his niece and nephew were straightening up at the house, and nephew went into the garage for a tool, and that snake attacked HIM!
Sure enough, they killed that snake, chopped it's head.
Craziness!!!
Don’t try t these techniques with Black Mambas 😢
ОтветитьHi. Where could I find this bucket with a screw cap to store snakes? Could you pass the link? Thanks.
Ответитьwhere did you got that hooks?
ОтветитьAwesome video. Thank you for doing this.
ОтветитьMister these are not the real ones come to India ull see the real snake which doesn,t care hooks they catch every snake with single hooks
ОтветитьA very good vid; from us in Australia who make your USA snakes look like playful puppies...
ОтветитьHmm... Any vids on how to safely release a snake?
🐍
what if its wrapped around staircase railing? How do you loosen them and get them safely outside?.....Thank you....I don't know anything about snakes....One got in apartment...
ОтветитьI learned nothing. People without experience should not go near a snake. This video gives people confidence, they should not have.
ОтветитьLol, America doesn't have any deadly snakes does it? If you need lessons, go an ask an Irwin toddler lmao. (FYI This is improper technique, and would get you killed in Australia)
ОтветитьAs an avid animal lover but with little practical experience dealing with them, I commend the people responsible for making this video. From a technical standpoint, the background music volume was perfect (yes, there is a tune there, but you'd have to work really hard to hear what song it is - as it should be!); the lighting was rather difficult in some places yet exposure values did not exceed the equipment parameters; the background vocal levels did not interfere with the voiceover levels - primo!; the camera operator was well-versed in proper camera locations and movement (so often idiots wave the camera around like it's a flag); on the information side of things this was a well-designed and executed production, with correct and current information being presented in a clear manner and keeping viewer's interest.
While the Academy Awards may not have you guys on speed-dial, it's really too bad because your team did an OUTSTANDING job on this production. I can't imagine I'll ever need to 'hook' a snake, but if I do I'll know I have the knowledge to safely and securely do so with very little risk to bystanders, the snake, and myself. Thank you for an excellent job!
Interesting how different US and Australian methods are
ОтветитьThey should show this everywhere
ОтветитьGreat Instructional Video! I've always relocated snakes that meander onto my tiny property but I have to admit to being not nearly as gentle with the snake as I really should be. 'Will make sure I have the proper equipment on hand for future encounters.
ОтветитьAlso, if you squeeze too hard, the snake will spaz out and be more difficult to remove and/or could become extra defensive, on top of possibly injuring it.
ОтветитьWhile researching videos to be used for training new people on a mine site,
The first aid section is highly inaccurate. You should never wash the bite site. This is because venom that may be on the skin or clothing could be used to identify the snake.
Also you should never lay down after being bit. Should always be sat upright and apply Pressure and immobilisation technique until ems/ paramedics attend.
The video was excellent and informative. What would you do with an especially striking snake? In Australia, the eastern brown is particularly known for its striking.
In regard to first aid. I've always been taught in Australia that you don't wash the bite site so that doctors can do a swab for identification. Also when available compression bandaging should always be applied.
The segment of removing a prairie rattlesnake in Hays KS is laughable. I know of no one in Kansas that would bother when a shotgun is a much easier and quicker solution.
ОтветитьSnare it, don't be stupid. Better it dead than you.
ОтветитьExcellent informative video
ОтветитьA water moccasin bit my Mother in Law. Snake convulsed for 15 minutes
before it died. I felt guilty for putting the poor snake in her pillow.
Since when is the US government responsible for anybody's death ?
Ответитьhelpful information
ОтветитьFer de lance its such a very agressive snake i am wondering the way to apply this techniques, since it moves very quick and violent
Ответитьthat actually does hurt in real life.
Ответитьexcellent video. the top results when you search for something like this are wildly off-base on this shit. cringe influencer stuff that will encourage novices to put themselves in dangerous situations. THIS is the video they should be watching.
