AEW Dynamite 6/19/24 Review | REWIND-A-DYNAMITE

I guess as maybe the only full blown (6 shows a week!) CMLL viewer in the Post community I am expected to defend MJF vs Hechicero criticism. I can't though. I get it. It's a weird match for every reason you guys said & more. Am I mad it's happening? No. But I understand the letdown. If I had to try to figure out Tony's rationale perhaps he looks at FD as a place to do matches you can't see elsewhere. Who else would ever book MJF vs Hechicero? Nobody. Where as if you did ZSJ vs Hechicero... that's happening this Saturday in Mexico City. It could happen in San Jose too next month for NJPW. Same with ZSJ vs Orange. Orange isn't doing indies so it can't happen there. He also seems to have little interest & vice versa in NJPW. So where can you see it? FD. Again, just speculating here.

I like Mariah May. I also like Mariah May for the Owen Hart Cup because it would tie together the story of Toni being the one to enter her in the tournament and oopsie her best friend wins & now can take her title away. But if Mariah can't get past Saraya I can totally see a scenario where Saraya wins the entire thing.

Really not disappointed in MJF vs Hechichero. Really looking forward to it. It means Elite gunning for MJF which likely leads to MJF vs Okada!

Per Wrestletix, AEW Dynamite sold 4400 tickets, so yeah, that was great for a Dynamite, considering that RAW this week had a little under 8K tickets distributed (again, according to Wresletix). John Pollock missed that Rush can not compete in Forbidden Door because of some contractual issue between AAA and CMLL. So Rush got the Dynamite match, and Hechicero (and other CMLL talent) will be at the PPV).

MJF facing CMLL talent Hechicero at FD probably may not have been the original plan but due to politics a bigger CMLL talent was not possible I guess. MJF could have faced a NJPW talent, for example Ishii. However Hechicero is a rudo/heel for babyface MJF to overcome and his alliance with the Elite's hired mercenaries Cage Of Agony, helps implement a path for MJF to be involved in Blood and Guts against The Elite.

If this was All Out and not Forbidden Door, i would have a problem with the MJF match.
