Best movie ever 🔥😂

One of the better films repeating the patterns of sick people who pay for such services. Very well made, the scenes are better than what we currently have, a high-quality classic from those years. I'm glad Hollywood didn't take part in this, the Slovak atmosphere was great in this film.

The trailers state that the film is "based on true events." Eli Roth claims he found a Thai website for a "murder vacation" where you can torture and then kill someone for $10,000. He showed the site to Quentin Tarantino and they adapted the idea into a film. Later on a talk show they said they had no idea whether the website was real or not.

The film was written, produced and directed in 12 months, which is three times shorter than the average Hollywood production.

The basement was such a terrifying place that Eli Roth hired a string quartet to play Vivaldi's music. This made it possible to shoot in slightly more pleasant and less scary conditions.

Czech and Slovak pop songs used in the film were huge hits in Czechoslovakia between 1982 and 1989.

We hear 9 different languages in the film and there are no subtitles for them. This is an American record for an American film with so many languages without subtitles.

Eli Roth asked the president of Iceland for forgiveness in connection with the portrayal of the Icelander Oli as a drunkard and sex maniac in the film. He laughed very hard at it and of course forgave the director.

Almost 600 liters of blood are spilled during the film.

The filming lasted from March 21 to May 6, 2005.

Initially, the script ended with the murder of the five-year-old daughter of one of the characters. This was ultimately changed because many film producers told the director that the scene was too violent.

Jan Vlasák, who played the role of a Danish businessman in the film, did not know a word of English. He learned his lines phonetically by heart.

Eli Roth wanted the world premiere of the film to take place in 2005, during the Iceland Film Festival.

In Malaysia, the film was banned from being released in cinemas due to its insult to religion and disgusting scenes.

Director Eli Roth started the film with only USD 2 million. It was only in the middle stage of filming that an additional USD 2.8 million was raised, thanks to which the filming was completed.

The producers and directors of the film decided to make a sequel to the horror film after only 4 days of showing in American cinemas.

Profits worldwide amounted to over 80 million US dollars, although the budget did not even exceed 5 million. "Saw", whose budget amounted to USD 1 million and profits exceeded USD 100 million, can also boast of such a financial result.

The film caused a storm among Slovak parliamentarians, who unanimously stated that Eli Roth's picture insulted, affected and harassed their country.

A local Slovak newspaper sent a tourist invitation to the film's director after he portrayed Slovakia as a dirty and backward country, in order to prove to him that the content presented in the film contradicted the real structure of their country.

The director hoped that someone would die watching ''Hostel'', the goal overshadowing these strange ''dreams'' was free advertising for the film.

The staff of several American cinemas had to call an ambulance for several fainting viewers due to the brutal scenes.

The concept is great, but the execution was very poor…
Bad acting, not really showing the gore and the overall production was lacking. Hope the other two are a little bit better

For someone to think of this to make it into a film (if it is just fiction) must have a sick mind 🤔🇬🇧

Think that the trailer is waay better than the movie

To me the scariest movie of all times. Because I'm absolutely sure and convinced, this is definitely happening in the world. Elitist groups that pay to torture, rape and kill people, even children.
