The SATA SSD is the only one witch would bottleneck a 10GBit Ethernet connection, however I rarely get the full Gigabit Download speed I had for a few years, because it is usually limited by the server from witch i'm downloading

I know you have made videos on NVME M.2 SSD Benchmarks for creators usage. But is it possible to make
a video for Gamers base on game storage drives and also tells us what's important for gamers relative to
purchasing a Top Tier & High Endurance TWB / PWB, M.2 NVME'S Gen 4. Is it possible to use these specific drives listed below with out heatsink:

1 - Seagate FireCuda 530 without heatsink 2TB
2 - WD Black SN850X 2TB
3 - Samsung 990 Pro without heatsink 2TB
4 - TeamGroup T-Force Carder Pro Z440 2TB
5 - Kingston KC3000 2TB
6 - Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB

I know this video is old, but laughs in 2023 I already had an incredibly fast Samsung SSD, but just grabbed a 990 Pro (one of the fastest SSD’s ever created) and it’s a HUGE difference. As a game dev, both games AND Unreal are worlds apart faster.

im getting a 1TB SSD my pc stutters in games (pain in the arse lol) i only have a SSD as my boot drive and 2 HDDs for my games so im just guessing getting a SSD for games would be better.
PC Specs
Ryzen 5 3600
GTX 970 (will upgrade at some point)
16GB DDR4 3200MHz
i don't mind if the SSD loads games a bit slow like a HDD as long as there's no stutters :D

Disappointingly I can't really tell any difference

I have a question: with current games needing faster read and write speeds, what is considered the base read/write speed for gaming hard drives?

I was playing Lords of the Fallen 2023 and a message popped up saying my hard drive was slow, but did not tell me what speed it considered to be fast

The way things are presented in this video makes me believe that they are saying that it turns out Nwme are crap drives ! And that it seemed slower compared to the other drives ! Have i made a bad decision buying a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2tb with the speed of 3500 mb/s ? Please tell me this isn't true :( !

Does having a nvme ssd in a Sata adapter affect it’s performance (speed)?

Ответить
@shhfiftyfive

i'm still on sata ssd. my friend on m.2 does load into most co-op game servers faster than me.

for example: - Fallout76 -
we load into a server/world at very different speeds. also, when in same server/world, he loads fast travel and instances areas faster as well.

^ this is the kind of test that matters to me. not what we saw in this video.
in other words.... seriously, do a drag race, not a blind taste test.

i would like a comparison with the new gen5 Crucial T700 4TB.

also, this video was unnecessarily confusing [ for the viewer ] because each tester was given the hardware in different order. (1, 2, 3 was not the same hardware between all testers), so the viewer couldn't compare the testers feedback 1:1

Honestly after witnessing HDD, SATA SSD, NvME, i can say that besides HDD, both SSDs perform almost the same in 99% of scenarios outside workload with big files. Like Linus said, having a good controller and cache matters most in an SSD.

but ssd to nvme not really
same for internet between 56kbit and 1gbit a lot but 1 gbit to 8 not so much

I’ve owned HHDs (5400/7200 RPM) SATA (6Gbps) SSDs and Gen 3 M.2 NVME and HDDs give me anxiety now 😂, but a 2.5 SATA SSD VS a GEN 3/4 NVME BIG DIFFERENCE IS WHILE TRANSFERRING HUNDREDS OF GBs from one drive to another internally or of course using 10Gbps or faster external ports including Thunderbolt ports… other than that, it’s pretty much the same…
