if you only used a lightsaber and didn't sniper duel the other snipers on the nar shadaa streets... my condolences.
ОтветитьThis game looks like such shit. I made the mistake of buying Outcast 1. It was absolutely horrible.
ОтветитьDark Forces II: Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith had better gameplay, but I was amazed how brilliant Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy were, especially online (with or without mods)
Ответитьyou can actually put mindtrick on level 4 with cheats and remote control enemies
ОтветитьUnpopular opinion: Had a great time in Jedi Outcast.
ОтветитьPlaying on switch and the deadzone for the joystick makes an fps like this horrible
ОтветитьCould not disagree more about the early levels - they're great. A blend of old school 90's FPS level design and some more modern elements with some fun little scripted moments and details. The lack of objective markers and handholding paired with a ton of secret stashed loot and secrets is part of what made old school FPS levels so cool.
ОтветитьI didnt use a walk-through for this game and didnt even have internet lmao. I could figure this shit out when i was 8 so you must be brain dead
ОтветитьThis game is awesome. Shut the hell up
Ответитьonly thing I find frustrating about the beginning of this game is the shooting system. the shots fly incredibly slow and thus it's far too easy to miss targets, and the AI is as boring as possible. they just stand there shooting while you shoot back, and once in a while run around incredibly fast for no apparent reason. The AI doesn't dodge, move, or get stunlocked, and it makes then incredibly boring and annoying to fight.
ОтветитьWas the best game at the time
Ответитьdark forces first fps game to look up and down thats why it was a big deal
ОтветитьI loved Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Academy even more despite the story and characters.
ОтветитьOkay so I played this on my dads pc when I was 12…I never had to use a walkthrough and I enjoyed everything about the game, at the time it was amazing and nothing disappointed me, but each to their own! Nice review!
ОтветитьToo many compaints, mate. I loved the game. IMO saberrealistic combat cheat kills all the fun
ОтветитьStill the best lightsaber combat, unmatched to this day.
ОтветитьStill a fucking stellar game that I won't ever forget.
Ответитьyou should have used the jedi academy jedi oucast mod. you play jedi outcat with all the combat and movement of jedi academy
ОтветитьI'm just a guy with a lightsaber and some questions.
ОтветитьI always loved it when I eliminated a dark jedi with the somersault swing. It was just so dang cool.
Ответитьi think i could listen to you talk all day, ahhahaah
ОтветитьIt's better than most of the recent games
Ответитьi love everything about this game, and your review and frustrations had me rolling!!
Ответитьcheat setforceall 9 and then mind tricking someone you literally take over their body and hilarity can ensue
ОтветитьAfter i saw this video i played the game again and it isnt 5 levels before you get the light saber maybe 5 chekponts, i got the light saber on level 3 maybe my game is broken
ОтветитьLoved getting into an AT-ST and wreaking havoc. Especially when crushing Stormtroopers underfoot.
ОтветитьComparing Jedi Outcast to modern games is like comparing Jedi Outcast to Ultima III.
Ответить"Jan" was hotter in Dark Forces II.
ОтветитьI'm not gonna lie when I first played this game I had the same thought process as you
I see "Jedi" on the case, I expect I'll be jumping around slashing people up with a Lightsaber, but I don't think I even made it through the first mission, I just couldn't figure out how to progress
Moreso cause I was a dumb kid, but yeah, I never really came back to the series afterwards. Maybe I should revisit it someday
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy were THE game for me when I was a kid. I wasted years into them, including the multiplayers with shitton of mods. It was just glorious, fun, engaging. The lobbies were always full, people formed clans and whatnot. Nice times.
ОтветитьI loved this game as a kid, it still has the best realistic lightsaber combat out there.
ОтветитьI remember playing the demo of this game before playing its full version. The demo level is like a spin off of the game itself, which you are a jedi knight already, i was amazed by it and played it a lot!
Some months later i managed to buy the full game and found that the first levels Kyle was not a jedi, i even doubt that the jedi thing would happen sometime.
But then when he finally gets to the temple and became the jedi it will so rewarding! I loved this game and the jedi academy!
"if you didn't use a walkthrough for this game, you're a genius..."
(pats self on back)
FPS >>>>>> Jedi
ОтветитьI was only 8 years old & had no clue about the Star Wars series. All I saw were many variations of star wars game so had bought a CD as it was the latest one. I got frustrated at the first levels where the bridge collapses and didn't know the next objective. At this point I left the game and never installed it. No doubt it was an amazing fps game for 2002. After 20 years, I'm going through all the Star Wars movies and spinoffs and it is growing on me. I decided to play this game again and finished it in a week. It was a lot of fun and I’m glad to have completed it. This game introduced me to Star Wars and will always remember this.
ОтветитьJesus you are so st@pid you don't know you have your own sniper rifle to counter the rodian snipers on Nar Shaddaa?
ОтветитьOne of the first games I had for first big console (GameCube) and it was one of the hardest most challenging but one of the most fun games ever, by far one of the best in the game franchise
ОтветитьLove this game! So many fun memories! Miss Jason Court as Kyle though
Ответить"I want instant gratification and handholding, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" This video shows what was great about games back then, and the opinions we hear shows why gaming sucks today.
ОтветитьSome of the level design choices are obtuse and really bad. The FPS levels have aged poorly. However the tone, story, and aesthetics/atmosphere are incredible. They were able to capture the feeling of wandering around a creepy and dark imperial base all alone perfectly.
Compared to JA, the levels are a lot longer as well. I found this game a lot more difficult to learn the levels than JA, however the replay value is way higher than JA. I play this with Movie Duels mod to get the improved saber mechanics from JA and use cheats to give myself a lightsaber in the early levels to make them way more fun and I find it a lot more compelling and enjoyable than JA.
I love Jedi academy and have been playing it for probably 15 years, but after finally getting around to playing outcast, Academy kind of feels like a diet version of this game, just with some improved saber mechanics and more straightforward but also boring level design. and the lack of Story compared to outcast definitely also hurts it.
I loved the game that and Jedi academy were proper star wars experiences. KOTOR was more RPG
ОтветитьI absolutely hated dathomir on fallen order, really fallen order was pretty annoying all around, so many shitty level designs. Like on Zeffo with the ice slides, man I fuckin hated those
ОтветитьIt is very easy to make fun of it. But at the same time no other game had (for its time) such smooth saber battles. I don't think a jedi game has ever outdone this. It is whacky and chunky these days. But i had fun with it for over 10 full years. So did many others.
ОтветитьWhat I hate about modern games is Waypoints and npcs explaining me what I need to do next ever 5 sec. The parts that you find bad in the game, is why I like to play old school games today, and still find undiscovered parts of the game. For me games were about exploration and adventure, not following a predefined waypoint path.
Ответитьi like that that game answers the old question we had as children: who could kill a jedi?
ОтветитьI discovered that you get a zoom-in when you right-click the sniper gun only on my third replay! I actually had a great time playing the game without it, making pixel-perfect mouse moves 😂.
I also enjoyed jumping on top of the trees in the Yavin level and then on the rocks to jump out of the map. Did you know that's possible?
Great video! What a nostalgia...
It was amazing to switch to third person. It was a game changer and it influenced all kinds of games.
ОтветитьYou definitely downplayed a lot of the puzzles. The random pipe at the end is pretty random but the clue is that there are drops of water that fall. The level hints require people to pay attention unlike newer games. Also you downplayed how DIFFICULT of a boss battle the final boss is if you don’t use the pillar to fall on him( the environments react a lot to your lightsaber in this game). Top 10 Star Wars bosses of all time. Up there with Malak of KOTOR 1
