I noticed this a few weeks ago that a lot of accounts started appearing on my feed they were all people from a MLM I used to do about 8 years ago who I liked a post or shared a post that had a product we both sold and yep your right Facebook literally followed them for me, took me ages to unfollow heaps of people that’s at least 2 hours I won’t get back but I wouldn’t dream of blaming them! 😊

I left Facebook just over 2 yrs ago for similar activity. I joined Mewe. Safe. No algorithm. No bots. No BS. Glad you found the answer!

Oh my gosh this is terrible! How gullible can people really be??? I do admit I like social media and have several groups and individuals I follow. If I found someone in my list that I didn’t follow the last thing I would do is go off on the person.

Monetization has definitely influenced the negative. changes I’ve seen lately.

Off topic a little but here goes…would love to get your thoughts on this!

One of my PET PEEVS is all the flipping ads people have on their blogs. It takes an enormous amount of time to delete them in order to follow the tutorial or read a recipe. Truth be told I avoid these products on purpose because the ads are just shoved down my throat every time I turn around. Maybe I’m being petty but it’s infuriating. I seriously don’t see this changing anytime soon because all the little bloggers in blogville are making MONEY! My only request and/or suggestion is to place the ads either before or after the tutorial. That would make me very very happy! LOL LOL LOL I will get off my soapbox now!

By the way, I’ve been watching your tutorials for many years! You are so talented and selfless. Making video’s for You Tube takes a lot of time and effort. I think sometimes people don’t understand how many hours it takes to record and edit videos. Thank you so much!

I was wondering why I was seeing unfamiliar channels in my list of notifications. Thought it was benign forgetfulness of old age. Pinterest pins random things on my pages. I don’t go there often, so I sometimes can’t tell if a pin is mine or their’s. But, for me, this is minor annoyance. There are way bigger fish to fry in this election year. My husband and I are really worried our next president will be “a dictator on day one.” Existential! But, Lolly, your video (reel) is a really good one. You got people thinking and commenting. Good!

I’ve noticed that since the pandemic, there has been a lot more angry, vitriolic, commenting. Even threats of physical harm. We seem to be losing our minds, our manners, and our empathy.

Facebook changed settings notifications of every group I follow or am a member of several months ago. Now every single group default is to send me a notification for highlights of the day, every post, and all the "@everyone" posts. Now, I have to go into every group and "manage notifications" to change them back. Nightmare.

I am sorry you had to go through this. If people are behaving this way it is your right to report it to FB. Theres a spot for that too. people need to read the rules and the way things work before they follow someone because believe me theres a reason they were chosen to follow you, this is not some devious thing FB does its always been this way but now they have added new ways to see what people are interested in and sent them follow requests. I remember trying to keep my account private so I searched the FB rules and my own settings. Chrome does it too & several others.

Funny you should mention about FB causing us to be followers. Recently I have found myself a follower of a couple of people and I thought 'I know I didn't follow that person.' OMGosh. Lynette Dalton here. People have nothing better to do. Who cares. I have a public and private account on Facebook. Public is general. Crafting and so on. Private one is reborn dolls only. There is enough drama on Facebook without facebook contributing to it. They should be glad it was you and not some weirdo. If they were face to face people would not say half the things they say on social media prayers girl.

Fb does stuff all the time! Fir example deleted a life long friend, which caused issues she was very upset. They also send friend request I know this becuz I started a fb just for craft groups I know sooner had it all set, I get friend request from a friend, kicker is she had passed away 4 yrs prior. I learned long ago it drama I think owner involved

Brand new FOLLOWER here. :) Thank you for this explanation video. I had noticed something weird happening with Fb along these lines, and I went down the hole a little to try to understand what was happening, but I didn't find out as much as you. I noticed that my list of pages I was following seemed to be much larger than I remember actually clicking the follow button, but you know what I did? I simply unfollowed the ones I didn't actually want to see the content anymore sans the nasty message. You know those one-off funny videos or something... not wanting to see all their content but I did appreciate the one video so I 'liked' it. I will be less eager to click like for those anymore unless I truly want to see more of them pop up. Anyway, I am very sorry about the people who left nasty comments as they unfollowed you. That was a result of ignorance and unfortunately, they won't be see seeing/or hearing this message you just left. Perhaps the knowledge will spread via word of mouth so others can start to understand what is happening. It doesn't excuse the lack of etiquette though, or just plain decent manners. I hope you do reach the 100K mark and soon! Off to start watching your content! :)

It’s this platform here also. Today, I hopped on to see how many views my latest video had, to discover my shorts feed loaded with religious videos, many were duplicates like two of the same one right after the other. I kept reporting, still there so I head to their channels to see I am subscribed to them when I know I have not done that myself.
So bizarre and I’m sorry to hear whats been happening to you!

I'm almost shocked someone would be offended they are following you. You craft, how is that offensive? It is so easy to unfollow or even unfriend. I don't get it. It wouldn't even cross my mind that you personally did that.

Meta is doing a lot of these obnoxious things. They have also taken it upon themselves to limit our exposure to certain categories of content. Without asking and, much more importantly, without notice. It just happens. I did get clued into this one by an instagram account which explained how to go into my settings and check, and sure enough, Meta had simply set my account to limits without my knowledge or consent. I was able to change the settings, but I was still furious! If they’re going to limit my exposure to anything, I wish they’d work on limiting my exposure to creepy guys who think Meta platforms are some sort of dating sites for gullible older women who think Keanu Reeves is just waiting for them, or the disgusting pornographers who think I would ever be interested in their disgusting content. But, no, they sought to limit my exposure to political content — in an election year. Meta is out of control.

Reddit us the worse! I used obe word in a craft sub (mojo) and i ended up being added to an Austin Powers fan group.

I have also been told that "many" others are "forcing" others to follow them on Facebook. It's not just me receiving the hostile messages. UPDATE: I was also informed that this is happening on Instagram as well; people are being assigned to follow accounts without their consent. Here's how you can check who you follow on FB: On your phone, click the three dots to the right under your cover photo >> activity log >> connections >> under "followers" select "manage followers. It actually shows who has followed you, but also whom you have followed.
