Task manager freezing is a regular thing for me.

I'm in Task Manager 80% of time I'm on my PC. Well it's like this because I always had not so good PC's, so I had to always close something in order for my PC to work fine. Task Manager was, is, and ever will be my hero!

Task manager will kill things but then some parent process will restart it right away. I see that happen a lot with programs that have multiple process instances.

That always on top top would have helped years ago even just months ago.. sadly I didnt know it existed and I have since upgraded my PC and I have no problems as of now. I will def turn it on either way!

im reading the comments adn there are some complains for task magaer that there are some apps that it cant kill well in my personal experience task manager never failed as you said in the beginning our trusty task manager would kill every app no questions at all

well the only thing i didnt know about task manager is that you can close the task magaer by using the task manager itself i always saw it on the app list but never right click and hit end task untill now thats fun to know

I've found the first tip by chance a year or 2 ago when task manager messed up, and i had forgot to have it always on top, so i couldn't try and get explorer to crash and restart by spam clicking it, so instead i tried the keys to open another and it worked :)

A few days ago at work I opened Microsoft Edge on a work computer to look online for some part numbers I needed.
We are using Windows 11 computers that are all in one (I guess that is what they are called) where the computer is built into the monitor

Edge was running terrible, so I opened the task manager to see what was going on, and I shrunk the display and put it to the right so I can continue searching for the parts I needed.

Anyway these guys here don't know much about computers and the assistant manager freaked out when he saw the task manager open xD

God the first half a year I had my cumputer I had no idea task manager exist and whenever a program froze I had no way to fix it god that sucked (I know it now clearly)

this seems related. over the eons of windows fiddling I noticed that some software that likes to either hang or begin responding at a snails pace seems afraid of task manager. I initially started tm to see what was going on and maybe kill the sluggish process, only to see the process spring back to life. this was not a trick; it became a regular tactic for me, to the point that I called it threatening the process with task manager. my friends rolled their eyes...until I demonstrated it to one of them. beats me what was going on. I dont use that anymore since I haven't had anything misbehave using win10 pro.

I use this little program every day, for the most to keep track of cpu use, storege and likewise, the best...

if you encountered your screen freezing do Crtl+alt+del there will be an option to shut your computer down or restart

Always on top does not always work, I still occasionally play an old game that liked to crash or freeze a lot Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion and for some reason task manager would never pop up on top of it even when I had always on top on but using [win]+tab in Win10 would work in those scenarios

As far as Im concerned, Task Manager SHOULD be able to kill ANYTHING

I've had issues so bad back in the day that I had to navigate task manager or programs with the keyboard. The ALT, CTL and arrow keys can be used. Learn this now in case you ever need it.

Yes, I've killed and restarted explorer many times. To rerun, go to create new task I think it's called and type explorer.exe. That's it.

Being really nerdy and smart. Create certain batch files for emergency use and call them via task manger. You can turn a batch file into an exe. Either through the Windows cmd or a program.
