Cant forget the OM651 and how they love to ingest coolant into the vacuum system.
ОтветитьHi doesn't know what he's talking about, sprinters are great vehicles. People want to fix them for cheap and German vehicles are not built that way. They do need a lot more maintenance, yes. American market is not good with sprinter vans and 90% of mechanics don't know how to fix them. Todays vehicles are meant to be fixed at a dealership. Aftermarket scanners are limited and there's not technical support for them. Wait for Electric vehicles, good luck with them.
ОтветитьThanks. Was looking into buying one and this is scary. Glad I found this video.
Ответитьi work at california closets and we run nothing but sprinters and there shit
ОтветитьThat Mihai guy is Romanian btw
ОтветитьShortly after Chrysler went to FIAT I asked the service department whether the Sprinters were better or the new FIAT based vans. Without hesitation, she said the Sprinters.
ОтветитьSorry guys I don't see how this makes Sprinter vans bad. Without exception all of the thing he recounts are caused by dumb drivers. How is it Mercedes' fault if someone puts the wrong liquids in the wrong tanks??? Try doing that on any vehicle and you will break down eventually. While I'm not a particular l fan of those Def/ Ad blue Diesels myself, we have got our governments to thank for that. Otherwise regardless of the Om651 Inline 4 or the Om642 V6 those engines are super sturdy and well thought out provided you know in which hole to put Diesel
Ответить90k miles on my 2018 4x4. I have had zero issue of any kind. And yes it uses DEF. DEF system has been totally fine and you only need to fill it every 2k miles or so. Dumb asses who put DEF in the wrong holes are idiots.
ОтветитьSince when do you lose an oil pump by putting gas in a diesel? Replacing a fuel tank just because I had gasoline in it??? I think half of his repair work was bullshit. I would’ve risk simply emptying it and filling it back up with diesel but what can I say?
ОтветитьThis is a terrible video vinwiki
ОтветитьThe reason so many came in is because there was so many of them every vehicle will have problems driver or parts failure but if there is millions of sprinters and only 100’s of another you will see sprinter in the shop more then the others but apart from rust issues. I would say only the engine is Mercedes
ОтветитьSprinter was Mercedes in 1995/6
Dodge just put there badge on them
Interesting topic, boring narrator
ОтветитьI've worked on sprinters for 17 years, this guy has no clue what he's talking about. Driver error is not the fault of the manufacturer. Sprinters are the most reliable van on the road.
ОтветитьThat guy can put insomniacs to sleep.
He is so boring
I disagree with this video. As someone who has worked on hundreds of Sprinters for a company that owned thousands of the Mercedes Sprinters, they are very reliable vans.
Ответитьclick bait title vin wiki. but what about reliability for the 2023 with 144/170 3500 with awd/4wd that winnebago uses? asking for a friend.
ОтветитьThese problems sound like every other modern-day diesel vehicle out there. They are all highly-strung and fragile devices with a ton of electronics to deal with. Plus when you take account of the fact they get ragged everywhere all day everyday, mostly by people who don't care at all, it's no big surprise they develop faults. That example of putting DEF in the coolant, although stupid, gives a good example of how these vehicles get treated in the real world. I think in reality they are no better or worse than any other modern vehicle, they just live exceedingly hard lives, like most vans do.
ОтветитьIf you put diesel in the emissions tank, you get a fire breathing truck. It’s just science 🤓 🛻 🚐
ОтветитьI can hear Scotty Kilmer Laughing so hard
ОтветитьThese remarks are completely BULLSHIT. 1/ you must fill with adblue, if you don’t do it you get ample opportunity to fill up at every gasstation and a limited amount of starts. It’s the law. Nothing wrong with the van. 2/ you put the wrong fluid in the van and it wont start, brake,… nothing wrong with the van but you are an idiot 3/ you put 40% gasoline in a diesel van. Nothing wrong with the van, you are an idiot. Why don’t you tank water instead of diesel and complain it wont start. The points this guy is complaining about are just complety user errors. There is nothing wrong with the van, the users are just complety idiots. The fact that this guy is sitting there, being serious about a bad van while its clearly user error is beyond belief…
ОтветитьI tried to watch this video twice and both times I fell asleep. I serve watching this video or Family Guy from now on.
ОтветитьGood Lord, Buddy
ОтветитьThey in the junk yard 500k 600k 700k
ОтветитьDrove with multiple sprinters over the last 14years never had a single problem !!!
Drive a new model ATM very statisfied!!!
If you let the maintenance be done bij certified mercedes dealer/technicians like you should you will never have problems
Most of these stories were about idiots putting the wrong fluids in the wrong places. That hardly makes these the worst vans ever. I've heard of rust issues though, and I have no doubt there are lots of finicky engine problems, but I'm also sure that the problems are common with most of them (there's nothing to these things), so they should be easily diagnosed. Title is borderline clickbait me thinks.
Ответитьi have no idea where you found this guy but mercedes vito / sprinters are godlike in terms of reliability xD .
ОтветитьMy Sprinter is now 10 years old. Ex DHL, no problems and no rust. We don't salt our roads in Australia. It doesn't use adblue, but I'm sure it's not hard to keep a few spare bottles at home. And only an imbecile would put petrol in a diesel car.
ОтветитьThere were bricks of cocaine in the fuel tank
ОтветитьI'm not a fan of the sprinter vans but the only people I know that have had problems with them are the type of people who can't maintain their own scheduled maintenance (hygiene) much less take care of their vehicles.
ОтветитьWorked for pvt ambulance company. The ac systems and trans ALWAYS failed. Owner ended up getting fleet of ford transits
ОтветитьI drove 2 different ones when I worked at DHL back in 07, I loved how easy to maneuver they were and I loved that I could walk up and down the back because of the high roof; however, they are ALWAYS breaking down whether it be the HVAC, the Turbo, the locks, the doors not opening, and they were only 1 year old at that point. Still though, I'd take them over the awful Econolines anytime. This was way before DEF BTW
ОтветитьIn a diesel Sprinter oil change, use only a "low ash" oil made for diesel engines as many oil additives in regular oil don't burn away and clog your DPF filter $. Mobil 1 ESP 5W30 for diesel engines, sold at Auto Zone is a good pick and will prevent the ash build up in your DPF $ !
ОтветитьIf you let a Sprinter diesel idle too long you will clog the DPF filter in which repair is expensive. I know, it happened to me twice!
ОтветитьWe had one at work, 2014 freightliner with the diesel. 258k miles and the intake runner flaps were sticking. It was a good van but kept getting erroneous ecm shutdowns and loss of communication. First the pins were replaced in the connector, next a special spray for the connector was used. Before that it had two recalls for the exhaust manifold pressure sensors, the entire emissions part of the exhaust, and the NOx sensors. Transmission was serviced regularly, went through some brakes and was picky about tires. It really liked the Michelins. 2wd in the winter it was pretty good. High top van with no windows, towing a 12’ trailer and hauling lawnmowers, bulk parts and goods. 17mpg empty, 14mpg loaded.
ОтветитьAmerican Sprinters must be built different, they are everywhere in Europe, people love them.
ОтветитьI fell for the sprinter reliability bullshit too. Avoided the DEF generation and bought a 2007 model. Yes the engine is bulletproof and will last 1M miles, but everything else would break, would be a nightmare to fix, and had to hunt down shops that would work on it. Had many failures, turbo hoses failed, AC failed, door rattled loose, oi leaks all over the place. Loved it when I bought it, but as time went on, more service and money was needed, and just turned into a nightmare. The worst aspect is getting work done on it. There aren't many shops that will work on these things, so if you're on the road, it's a nightmare to deal with. At least with a Ford, you can roll into any shop
Ответитьcameron has the prettiest eyes lmao <3
ОтветитьI had a Sprinter for my construction company and it was a huge POS! Nothing but problems. We replaced it with a Ford Transit in 2015 and 125k miles later my Transit has been great. I was excited when I saw a video trashing the Sprinter but then this guy put me to sleep.
ОтветитьWhen the sprinter first launched nearly 30 years ago, replacing the Mercedes’ T3, which was an amazingly robust vehicle… but the sprinter was designed by Mercedes’ for residual dealer and factory revenue. It was explained to dealerships that after warranty period the sprinter will require 15% of purchase price in annual repairs. This was the sales pitch to the dealerships to start selling them beside the saloon cars.. they were not built to be reliable, they were built to be reliable income for Mercedes’ and the dealership repair bays.
ОтветитьWorst van? Every european wants a word with you. The Sprinter and Vito/ V- Class is the best on offers here. Of course using them as RV´s is something else than having them as work- vans. They also cost alot more in the states for less equipment. With the new generations they seem to have fixed the aweful rust issues they had before, I kinda wish the V6 was offered with AWD in the Sprinter and the V- Class would be offered with a sixcylinder, that said a V300d is kinda fast enough...
ОтветитьBuy toyota most reliable
ОтветитьThis is odd because I've heard despite other Mercedes having their share of issues, the Sprinters are supposedly the one thing where they can stand on their reliability. I've worked on lots of those things for Fedex as part of a contract job from the midwest out to the west coast, installing dash cams. They aren't too bad as far as wiring goes, but definitely not the easiest. I rarely saw one that had a check engine light. One thing I saw from time to time was that the window switch on the driver's door, for the passenger window would lose its little spring. If that's the worst that tends to happen, I would be fine if I had to drive one.
ОтветитьThis dude sounds offended that someone turned their van into a home on wheels.
ОтветитьI know one thing, they hit hard when you get Tboned by one, we had an Amazon van nail us and it slammed us hard.
ОтветитьWhy are you whispering 😅 SPEAK UP LOL
ОтветитьZzzzzzzzz.......
ОтветитьWe had use of the first model Sprinter, It was New, With half a ton of ceramic tiles in the back , It couldnt climb the gentle slope out of the yard, the back suspension was weak and the engine was even weaker, I live in west Yorkshire , Here You have to go up a hill to reach the bottom of the road
Ответить
