I think that Meltzer's greatest crime was that he didn't give Eddie Vs. Rey at HH 5 stars. That is literally one of the best matches of all time, put on by two of the GOATs in the PRIME, and it didn't get 5 stars? Okay buddy, sure.

One thing that baffles me about Dave Meltzer's Ratings is the fact that non of Kurt Angles Matches from WWE & TNA does not have at least one 5 Star Matches!

The only thing some of these matches could have used is some color, having no blood in a cage match is weird to me but still having no 5 star matches between 2011-2022 is wild 😂

by this logic he's also biased against Pro Wrestling Noah for not giving them a 5 star match from 2004-2020, biased against ROH for not giving them one from 2012 to 2022, biased against TNA/Impact for not giving them one since 2005, biased against AAA for not giving them one from 1995-2021, biased against AJPW for not giving them one since 1999, biased against Michinoku Pro for not giving them one since 1996, or biased against CMLL for NEVER giving one to them despite it being the oldest wrestling company in the world

Men's Royal Rumble Match, 2018. It was mostly the current roster at the time, Finn and Rusev were a great starting duo, the Curt Hawkins stuff is great, the final 6 war of attrition is pretty great; Also the 2020, I know that the records are crap but they told a beautiful story with Brock in the front half, the Edge return and the pay off for Drew to win. I'd also say the Women's 2020 was the best Women's Royal Rumble minus Charlotte winning, which makes it a 4.75 instead of a full five. The front half with Bianca and Alexa going head to head and the back half where Shayna comes in and wrecks everyone, just wonderful.

The Smackdown Women's Elimination Match from the 2020 Wrestlemania was pretty solid. Everyone was putting mustard on those hits to make those matches being up close and personal really hit. Also from the 2020 Wrestlemania, Dolph Ziggler vs. Otis and The Firefly Funhouse.

The 2019 Men's Royal Rumble Match. In a lot of ways it makes me sad that they wasted Keith Lee, and GUNTHER takes the first pin, but yeah, quite the banger.

TLC 2 is a 5 star match and anyone who disagrees can Suck It!

The guy has his own taste in wrestling. ::shrug:: Okay. The only reason his carry any weight (and before anyone replies with a variant of "pfft, they don't carry any weight with ME," we're commenting on a video about his ratings) is that he was kind of the only game in a particular town for a while. It's fair to say wrestling is an art form, it's performance and all that. Who is wrestling's Roger Ebert? Or Pauline Kael? Maltin? Wrestling fandom hasn't exactly been spoiled for choice on wrestling critics over the last forty+ years. I don't agree with plenty of his ratings, but I'm not gonna say "it doesn't make any sense, how can you not give THESE matches *****?" any more than I'd wonder why Eternal Sunshine didn't get a perfect score with some critics, or why "Ants From Up There" by BCNR wasn't everyone's album of the year. Hell, if anything it makes sense that he'd be partial to a wing of the wrestling world that were probably fans reading his reviews and following his match ratings before they were wrestlers and shaped what they viewed as "good wrestling" and "the best matches" based on that.
