The Indian bathroom is basically just a ground-level commode. You have to squat to use it. If you're travelling, always use the Indian option, if available. It will help prevent UTIs because it reduces contact with exposed surfaces.

I've been in several 24 hour train rides in India... in all of them I don't even use the bathroom, not even drink water so that I can stay the whole 24 hours, I Cannot Stand The Smell... not only the smell, people 9/10 times do not even flush the toilet, it is so horrible... I've been called dramatic often for being so hygiene concerned...

As an indian living inSingapore and previously lived in Japan and Dubai , I would give this 1/10.

When I was in London. (I am from the US.) I went in the bathroom on the train leaving the city and it was literally large enough to fit 10 wheel chairs in it at once. I kid you not. It was dimly lit and there was not a square inch that wasn't visibly covered in excrement. I didn't even enter the room.

Try the general compartment

The only good train washroom i had seen was in vande bharat when it was just inaugrated and in service. Its current condition though? I have no idea, hopefully its still as clean and good as it was before.

The only good bathroom in normal indian trains in Vande bharat. It genuinely is beyond any avg cost indian train bathroom but it has a very shot distance to travel so jot all people in india can travel on it

Try opting for Luxury Trains (Next time if you happen to visit India). In case you find the normal ones uncomfortable. Although 8/10 is a pretty good rating I say. But you can try other trains to travel more comfortably and with an added safety n security. Like Palace on wheels, Maharaja Express, Deccan Odyssey n so on.

That first class is worse than the cheapest economy class experience in Turkey. And we pay like 4-5 bucks for an overnight train! How shitty can indian trains get it’s horrible

Come to Kenya and try the first class SGR from Nairobi to Mombasa. You will love it. ❤😉
