Most Fords have an plug outlet on to rear of the console. I just plugged a $4 nightlight in it to stop the a.s.s. The vehicles battery maintenance system detects a current draw and will automatically disable the dumb a.s.s. 😉

I turn it off immediately. Its gonna wear the starter and pinion over time causing a real expensive replacement eventually especially regarding that pinion gear. Absolutely the STUPIDIST mandate ever. However I do turn it back ON when in a drive through queue as I'm sitting there idling and doing nothing anyway. Its either that or keep placing the tranny in neutral or park circumventing the need to hold the brake with an auto tranny. I then wait for the line to advance a coupla vehicles before moving again to minimize starts.

I've had the Auto Stop Start Eliminator installed in my 22' Maverick since new and now have 18,000+ miles with no problems. Since my Maverick has a button on the center console, I can easily still use the Auto Stop Start function if I see I'm going to be stopped in a drive thru or stopped in traffic for awhile. So I recommend the Eliminator for any vehicle with a Auto Stop Start button.

Lastly, my Maverick has an auxiliary engine coolant pump that operates when the engine is in the "Auto Stop" mode ... basically I recommend to use the Auto Stop Start function every once in awhile to circulate the engine coolant in the hoses leading to and from a pump like that.

Edit: Wow, that was a lot of trim disassembly just to do a simple plug and play. My experience was much easier. Get on the driver-side floor and look up in the dash. Unplug the OBD 2 wiring harness, plug in the Eliminator between the harness and the OBD 2 backside and secure the dongle thing. Done

I installed one on my 2020 Ram Limited. Simple plug and play with no tools required on the Ram. I love it. No more aggravation at ever stop. I live in Oklahoma. The weather gets HOT! in the summer here. So when the engine stops at every red light, I would get to sweat unstill I installed the auto start

An easier and less expensive solution is to buy a trailer "flat 4" tester (4 leds)less, plug it into your trailer light connector, wrap a piece of tape around it, and you are done. The vehicle's engine control module sees the tester as a trailer connected and no longer shuts the engine off " for safety". $2/2-minute fix! Whatever one man puts together, another man can take apart!

Based on YOUR excellent video, superb lighting and explanations, I just bought the AE030 for my ‘21 Silverado High Country 3.0L diesel
The most annoying feature GM has added to this truck is the AutoStop….thank goodness this new controller is available…a PITA to pull the dash apart but surely worth it

Compared to Ukraine, Israel, Bitcoin, Inflation, Voter Fraud, Vaccine Mandated Deaths and Oprah stealing Hawaii, this f’DUCKING AUTO STOP-START has really got me scared.

I use Google Maps every day, so Nancy Pelosi can target me with a cruise missile for kicks any time she wants, but for gawd’s-sake, don’t toy with my life by killing my engine at a stop light when an 18 wheeler is bearing down on my tail lights!

I had to replace the alternator in my 1972 Malibu about every other winter.

Every time my $82,000, 1/2 ton, non-Diesel, 2024 GMC Denali dies at a stoplight,
that’s the third thing I think of.

First is, “AM I ABOUT TO BE REAR-ENDED”.
Second is, “AM I ABOUT TO BE T-BONED”
Third is, “HOW MUCH MORE WILL A RING GEAR AND STARTER COST THAN AN ALTERNATOR DID 50 YEARS AGO?”

I saw a police video where a couple approached a scene of a fleeing criminal with a firearm. In the confusion, the car shut off leaving the couple vulnerable. The criminal did shoot; he didn't get into the car, the passenger got shot in the leg, the car started moments later, and they then drove away. Had the car not shut off, they could have sped away sooner as they realized what was happening. What made it worse was the criminal was abandoning a stolen police car that he crashed, so it was even more confusing; the firearm was a rifle. A very low probability, but a warning of when auto-shutoff can really be a problem.

I am also wary of auto-braking - all a carjacker needs to do is get in front of a car and simply stop.

I am surprised being in Spain for the few weeks that almost every cab and even the rental cars have auto stop features. They are nowhere as near annoying because 95% of all cars hear are manual transmissions. They only stop if you put the car in neutral and take you foot off the clutch while stopped. As soon as you step on the clutch, the engine restarts and there is just not a problem with this. And mind you, almost every car and van here is also a diesel with this feature. Fear not about the starter, they are very beefed up starters compared to one without this feature and although seems like it would wear out fast, they are rated for over 300,000 starts. In fact, once they reach a certain amount, say 300,000, this feature is automatically disabled as now the starter would be more prone to fail. I personally like this feature as I love the quiet with the engine off at the light and find the start and go to be pretty smooth. It is not wearing out the starter, it was made for this service.

I disconnected the wire on my 2019 F150 which is a lot simpler then what GMC makes you do plus you dont have to buy anything. There is a video on utube that shows u how to disable the auto start switch. The connector is on the driver side and all you do is just unplug the wire that the guy shows u na he gets his young son to do it. That's for Ford..easy I have not had any problems and nobody has asked me when I get the oil changes at the Ford dealer..Remember Im only talking about F150 Fords. This is an interesting video. Thanks guys

4Runner, Highlander, RAV4
. Lift up lightly on the brake it disconnects and will keep the vehicle running. #2 shift into sport mode on the gear shift and when ready to go switch back to drive. #3 best and easiest, switch you venting to defrost/lower vent and you never have to touch it again.

I installed an Autostop Eliminator in my '19 Ford Escape and my '22 Ford Escape. The first one just plugged into the port near the kick pad, but the second one was like the unit you installed in this video. Thankfully there was none of the dismantling that you had to go through what so ever. I've been told that down the line the vehicles won't have the switch, so I don't know what we'll do then, but I sure like this product with the present idiotic factory set up.

I travel a lot on business trips. That means I rent a lot of cars. The Auto-Off is a total nuisance. Some cars make the button to disable Auto Off hard to find. I found a short term solution to the engine stopping. Just wiggle the steering wheel slightly and the engine will restart immediately. I would rather not buy a vehicle that requires ripping my dash apart just to disable the Auto Off. The owner should be allowed to set a default in the car's system. My Vette lets me set many preferences that remain set all the time.

You would think manufacturers would understand that people want to control their default settings. Had a 2012 ram, towing a camper, every time I got gas, or shut the engine off for any reason I had to remember to put it back in tow haul, how stupid. I got rid of the truck.

My 2024 Mazda CX90 has auto iStop. When it shuts off, it leaves a mixture of fuel and air in the cylinders. To restart, it ignites the mixture so the starter isn’t used at all. It restarts very smoothly in about 1/3 of a second. Excellent system for fuel saving.

It’s interesting that the service manager at an Acura store said Acura modified the software on the MDX to not shut off as often. The reason? Acura MDXs were having frequent starter failures under warranty and was causing the factory financial losses.

I find that it’s really unsafe feature in Detroit streets. The slight delay to get you rolling gets you rear ended at a light.
It also allows car stealers time to break your window and grab your neck when you are trying to speed away.
Detroit can’t be the only city where this happens!!

When the vehicle dies in warranty and gets towed to the dealer for repairs, the device will be found and will mess with the warranty. I just push the button and get it over with until my warranty expires. Then I may or may not install this device. The dealer will charge you to return the truck to factory specs before beginning any warranty work on the vehicle, unless the dealer installs this device for you. Just saying.
