It’s a coil gun not a rail gun. Though the idea of using disks, makes me wonder if you took a rail gun and didn’t use an armature, but instead used magnetized disks. You could then have a rail gun without any reciprocating component, besides whatever would be chambering each disc.

It might be more powerful when not in burst mode. It probably has caps it charges and on a single shot it can dump all the power into it where with a burst it only dumps a small bit per shot.
