Important today still. Smart. People are incentivized more now than ever to not think critically and to utilize Google. Pen and paper is still the OG. I wish I used it more, but I don’t. We’re in a crisis of convenience.

Ehh ill just google it. There is no point to reinvent the wheel if someone already invented it. Humans learn through a feedback loop. We fail and learn from our mistakes until we get it right. Though with google we can learn from others mistakes so we no longer have to make the same mistakes that's innovation. Where the next generation doesn't have to solve the same problems but we leave them with our answers so they can solve the new problems yet to be solved/discovered. That's innovation on steroid where we pass on our knowledge to the rest of humanity so they don't have to waste time on solving problems already solved.

What the f**k is he talking about!! Not using google and internet in the class??!! Internet has given me the kind of education I would never have gotten in million years from my school. Internet is the reason I am able to type here in English. I attended school for 15 years. Studied English as a language for about 10 years. Still when I was out of School, I couldn't translate a sentence of Hindi to English.

I used to wonder why women have periods when I was a teenager. Couldn't ask that in a classroom. But now I can google in a second.

We need to encourage children to use Google and Internet in the classroom not prohibit it. Internet is the future of education. I reckon the current education system of the entire world will collapse in the next 10 years or so due to internet.

As to the problem of finding out how many seconds are there in a day, if the child is curious enough (which he surely will) he will ask google "How did you get that number of 86400"

When a child says he will just Google it he is trying to save time. Time which we do not have unlimited supply of and which must be saved and not wasted in learning and memorizing stuffs which can be easily googled.
