Born there 13 May '53. We would skate board down that old spiral walkway many years ago. Usually after doing all the parking garages in the evenings.
My dad worked at the Caller Times 42 years. I had a paper route at 10 yo then at 16 went to work the mail room through high school.
I'm 70 now.
Been gone a long time.
When I went fishing for mangrove snapper in Corpus, there were a lot of homeless people sleeping on the street. Very sad for me. Ruined my day. Why and the hell can't the greatest nation on earth take care of these people. Most need to re-hab off of drugs and the worst drug alcohol. It's not just Corpus, it's not just TX, it's the entire nation. We need to do better with people society finds unacceptable.
Ответитьgood video, to the folks saying corpus hasen't reaches its potential...I say great, I live in dallas, it's reached its potential..personally, I don't want another galveston
ОтветитьCorpus Christi and Padre Island…the poor man’s alternative to Florida.
ОтветитьCorpus has been trying to reach its potential for the 48 years that I've been alive. Not gonna happen. It's a small town stuck in a big cities body. All potential, no plan. Every single person in my Carroll High peer group that went to and finished college stayed the hell away and never came back.
ОтветитьLive there for 34 years couldn’t get out of there fast enough
ОтветитьYou hit the nail on the head when you said it's a Texas city what hasn't reached its full potential yet. I've said for years that C.C. is supposed to be our San Diego. Especially with the maritime presence and influence with the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard around there. I'm a Navy Veteran. It's a beautiful place. Between infrastructure upgrades, Theme & Amusement Parks, High End Hotels, Tourist Amenities, Food options, Culture and overall recreational activities, if those were heavily invested in, Corpus Christi would be a global destination San Diego/Orlando hybrid...Tejano Style🤘🏾😎🌴🌴🌵
ОтветитьMuito legal 👏
ОтветитьHow comes I didn’t see one single person out there in the entire video? Is it a ghost town?
ОтветитьOld Nueces County Courthouse although, Oasis sounds better! Love your video. There are only parts of Corpus that look amazing beautiful!
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas. It's ashamed that no one from City Council or Mayor refuses to beautify other city neighborhoods that are
so desperately in need improvement. I've left 21 years ago and we come visit our old neighborhood and it still looks so so depressing and
very left out from the entire city. Yes, it has so much potential but the City Council or Mayor will use city tax dollars to keep improving from
ocean drive to the south padre side to reel in tourist. Who would ever want to visit the northside or westside? Looks so forgotten & neglected.
It's just sad that for many years there has only been one main focus attraction that gets invested yearly beside yearly potholes on city streets.
How is the town allowed to remain named Corpus Christi? That seems to be a clear violation of separation of church and state.
ОтветитьSelena Brought me here 😎
ОтветитьMy wife and I are going there on June 19-24 thank for sharing this video 😄✌🏽
ОтветитьGreat video! I especially liked that you'd didn't spend it showing your face instead of the sights, like so many video makers do. I really enjoyed seeing the USS Lexington, as I served (1965-66) on her sister ship, the USS Randolph CVS-15. I just wish there had been an SH3-A helo (helicopter), like I worked with back then I'm considering moving to Corpus, so appreciate your video.
ОтветитьYou hit the nail right on the head at the end. So much potential. As a native resident, it's weird seeing your town just remain stagnant for the past 20 years
ОтветитьSelena 😞
ОтветитьWhat happened to the fence that went around the Old City Hall last time I was there there was a big fence all the way around it
ОтветитьJust be prepared to have your things stolen. From driveshafts, catalytic converters, patio furniture and everything in between. Used to love to hang out in CC. No more!
ОтветитьIm moving there soon for work… Honestly im really skeptical, is it a safe place to live? It looks like an abandoned town with a beach and nothing else to offer.
ОтветитьBeautiful corpus ! I moved away in 2006 and I definitely do miss it.
ОтветитьStay away from Portland TX where the people are racist and the corrupt San Patricio county attorney by the name of Tamara cockroach may lives.she will instruct lawenforcement to attack your family! stay away from San Patricio county!!
ОтветитьReading some people's complaints about this place, I still really want to move there. I come from a rural home in the middle of nowhere and the conditions around here are like the cons of Corpus Christi x 10. Potholes in my area are unbearable, it takes 15 minutes by car just to reach a gas station or grocery store, there's no beach to make up for it, no tourist attractions, no public transit, currently no affordable housing available, and it's not bike friendly like Corpus Christi. So to me, Corpus Christi sounds as heavenly as it's name implies. Plus, the grass is LITERALLY greener in Corpus Christi 🤗
ОтветитьMy family and I have vacationed there every year since 2013. We love it there and wish we lived there.
Ответить🌹SELENA🌹
ОтветитьGreat video! I used to live in Corpus and I saw many familiar places and some new ones, too. Thank you! 😊❤
ОтветитьLove it! Ty! Love the sounds!
ОтветитьYeah right
ОтветитьI was stationed there in 1969 to 71 hot hot and one hurricane
ОтветитьA family member lived on Ocean Drive in CC in the late 70s and was married at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in 1980. I spend five days in CC during the wedding festivities and thought CC was a beautiful city. Not too big. Not too small.
ОтветитьThis place is a dump!!! The roads are horrible, the taxes are too high, the beaches suck, the homeless are everywhere, the weather is terrible, the political corruption is painfully evident (bridge construction fiasco), and did I mention that the roads are worse than many of the 3rd world countries I went to in my 20+ years in the military? Can't wait to leave this crap-hole!
ОтветитьParts are okay, but mostly ghetto now.
ОтветитьNice propaganda video, this city is shit, there are terrible problems with drugs and crime. One of the most illiterate and obese cities in the nation, the city council just wasted $85 million on a new bridge that won't even be completed due to safety and design concerns, as well as waste 2 million on led lights for harbor bridge that barely lasted 5 years by using cheap brackets they were advised against. 17 years ago, this city was beautiful the beaches clean and crime relatively low. Currently, this city is a failure in absolutely every way. Break-ins and car theft are a common occurrence even in the nicest areas of town, not to mention shootings at convenience stores at least twice a week, even restaurants. However, if you want to come for fishing and stay out on the water, you'll have a good time.
ОтветитьShow the people watching your video all the ugly parts of Corpus Christi, show them a video of all the crime in Corpus Christi. I'm a resident of Corpus, this video is just showing you certain parts of Corpus, the other places are of North Beach, TX and Port Aransas, TX. I admit anything by the water is beautiful but you get a mile or two into town, you'll get to see the ugly of Corpus Christi, this gentleman is just showing you coastal areas.😉✌️
ОтветитьHow come all the major Texan cities are not along the coast? That is quite surprising.
ОтветитьDon't park your vehicle too long and adhere to all the signs. Those signs of take your stuff, lock your car also means for your trunks and truck lock boxes as well. 4 generations of millwright tools, dates from the late 1800s to the early 2000s were stolen from me. My tools are replaceable but my great grandfather's tools were not along with his boxes and they were in my locked tool box which looked as if they used a giant can opener to open it. According to the police, there was nothing they could do but I could check the pawn shops to see if they had my tools in there and that happened in front of a security camera at the OMNI Hotel parking garage. Yes, Corpus Christi is beautiful but it's fun to visit. Reminds me of Galveston...just don't stay too long. You'll end up with barnacles on the bottoms of your shoes.
ОтветитьMy home town. Born there in1959. You should have seen it the sixties.
ОтветитьThe Lexington also has an escape room.
ОтветитьDONT GO THERE it's an awful awful filthy dirty thieving town!
ОтветитьReally good job covering my hometown (native & resident even now). I'm 2nd generation with my son & nieces making 3 generations. My grandparents moved here around latter 1930s or so. My mother still remembers the beauty of that old Courthouse in it's glory days and walking around the edge of that water fountain which had goldfish in it. She still recalls falling in the water amidst the fish. Lol.
Heritage Park was created in an area that was really run down & made such a beautiful change to the area. Christmastime is lovely there. The Lichenstein House is nice and they had a retail clothing store downtown (Lichenstein's) which was lovely & even I still remember it. The Galvan house is beautiful & rents out for weddings with courtyards and Rose Garden, etc.
Not far from Heritage Park is the Museum of Science and History which houses loads of interesting items like the accounts of the 1919 Hurricane and a room with the the Bucanneer Days area complete with some of the jeweled coronation dresses which are handmade.
Hurricane Alley waterpark and Whataburger Field (home of the Hooks baseball team) are just down the street from all this.
We love our Lady Lex. It had an IMAX theatre last I knew. Not a good tour if you have knee issues, but you can definitely spend all day there so the price is worth it. The Pearl Harbor exhibit is amazing & sobering with the name lists of the soldiers lost that day.
Unfortunately, you didn't cover our Texas State Aquarium which is right next door to the Lexington. (Probably due to time constraints, I imagine). It's another great thing to do here and you can spend an entire day there, too. It's partnered with The Harte Institute & has an Osearch area, too. Our TAMUCC Biology Dept work with the aquarium for research & studies. Dolphin shows, Wild Flight theatre, hands on exhibits like feeding the sting rays, etc are just a few things to do there. The construction several yrs ago added even more. There's a 4D theatre & even a zero depth water park area. That area is North Beach. It was formerly known as Corpus Christi beac. Add a trip to eat at Blackbeard's restaurant while there for some great seafood like Pirate Stew or Fish Tacos. Many people have come here and mistakenly thought North Beach was The Island, but it's our bay area. The Harbor Bridge to North Beach is in the process of being replaced these days so pay attention to construction signs or you may get turned around a bit.
Ocean Drive is definitely worth the trip & is also lit up beautifully at Christmastime.
Corpus Christi was the home of Ray H.S. graduate Farrah Fawcett. Lou Diamond Philip called CC home at one time, too.
The beach is gorgeous! Nice tour.
👍💯
I guess I'm the only one that remembers when Hurricane Katrina came through and what was left of corpus Christi 🌀🌀🌀🌊🌊 pretty much nothing ‼️
ОтветитьBeautiful? The city named the corpse of christ is beautiful?....no.... corpus has crime....poor city planning its smells....and the food will kill ya....
ОтветитьTrash town ghetto drugs police corrupt too many Mexicans!
Ответитьwait till u go into town morw😂😂😂 it gets shitty, pur roads suck as well
ОтветитьThey only want to show you, what's not going on , construction is everywhere don't come here, turn around and go back where you come from ,it's not the body of Christ anymore, the body of hell
ОтветитьI was there in 1989 attending flight school and the downtown was pretty rundown.
ОтветитьGood job, I am living in corpus Christi and I didn't know the whole history of the city. Thanks for the sum-up and great video clip .
ОтветитьA dying city run but corrupt ass hats, business is running fast from corpus than from california, the beaches are dirty and the homeless are armed stay away
ОтветитьI grew up right across the bay in Portland and love Corpus and the Gulf Coast. Beautiful place to live and visit.
