Visited Moldova for vacation in 2022. It is a lovely small country with welcoming people and amazing food. Definetly worth a visit. Hopefully they at least maintain their current state or unite their country again. Hopefully Russia will not get their hands on more Moldovan territory.

Moldovan/Bessarabian here we are a unique case. Basically an artificial country created by Stalin ( yes I know we were a principality 100's of years ago) too keep Romania weak but that's slowly going away and we'll eventually re-unite too Romania though at the earliest in 20 years. If Odessa falls too Russia and Russia officially invades Transnistria then Romania has a conundrum at it's doorstep. Also remember Romania has recently introduced a bill that would allow it too defend Romanian citizens outside of Romania itself

Aaaand in latest news someone was arrested in Romania for espionage and the Russian ambassador has been expelled. Russia in response accused us of meddling in Moldova's internal affairs and trying to erase the Soviet-manufactured Moldovan identity.
There's also the problem of Gagauzia, an autonomous region inhabited by a Turkish-speaking people who also favor russification. It's a shame because 100 years ago they were a model minority in the unified Romania, but after the Soviet invasion most of their elite was either killed or deported along with a huge chunk of the population in Moldova. Now almost none of them speak Romanian and almost unanimously chose to secede if Moldova were to reunite with Romania.
