A world beater? Hmm... the mighty Mahindra! It might be able to stay ahead of my 250cc BSA C15 until the first corner.
ОтветитьAre you smoking a spliff?
ОтветитьOmg I'm waiting for it so bad to come in india being an indian product 😭
ОтветитьThats the Bike my neighbour always wanted ! Sadly he had the standard non Gold star BSA i cant remember the exact make but it was still beautiful in all Black but it did break down a lot lol
ОтветитьWhat about the guzzi!!!
ОтветитьWhat a beauty.
ОтветитьTotally expected to see the shifter on the right.😄But alas it can only be so retro.
ОтветитьIn my opinion, the reason that this bike will fail is the very thing that BSA are using as it’s selling point, namely nostalgia. This is because; 1) there are not enough “old gits” like me (I’m in my mid ‘70s) who can remember a Gold Star and who still ride. 2) those who can remember the “Goldie” will discount this bike out of hand as there is absolutely NO comparison; it’s simply a bike with a red tank badge. 3) anybody who is not bitten by the nostalgia bug sees only an expensive, single-cylinder, bike. 4) anybody wanting a simple commute bike have a myriad of alternative much cheaper bikes to choose from.
ОтветитьSorry but it never was a "World Beater" A medium displacement single brings no shivers of excitement at all.
ОтветитьNow you can compare it to the Triumph Speed 400 in a similar price range.
ОтветитьGreat to see the BSA marque back & a really enjoyable review....
Ответитьnice looking bike well done bsa
ОтветитьExcellent review…waiting for its India launch in 2024
ОтветитьHad a totally original A10 loved it
Ответитьcool
ОтветитьBeautiful bike. It would have to perform up to interceptor. Then there is the worry about parts and technical support. Will the company last? At least with the interceptor you know they are not going anywhere. This is what royal Enfield should have done. Absolutely beautiful. Still haven't seen them in the states yet
ОтветитьIn my view this bike does not compare with the 1960’s Goldies, I recall riding one fitted with clip-ons and with a swept back exhaust pipe and a swept up ‘silencer’. Kick starting was a ‘man’s job’ and once underway the sound was lovely, crisp & noisy. Riding around town caused wrist/ back ache due to the riding position but once at around 60/70 mph the wind pressure solved all that…….Did you really talk about riding at 90mph? Bad lad😂
ОтветитьNice bike, but ill Stay with my RE Continental GT650.
I live in Thailand. I've never seen one here. Don't know if sold here.
Good luck to BSA.
Needs one of those exhaust whistles that the elephant washers put on all the old hot bulb agricultural/water pump stationary engines in India.. Toot, toot, toot, toot........Would suit it perfectly...
ОтветитьWorld beater? Wasn't this on sale the same time as the Honda CB 750? World beater in 19 57 maybe.
ОтветитьGoddamn Sir. What a lovely aesthetic way of presentation. Sitting here in a remote corner of India, I felt like a Brit for 20 minutes. The way you dressed, the way you described stuff, the surroundings, the bike. Absolutely beautiful
ОтветитьWhat you have there is not a BSA it is a Mahindra hybrid a Rotax engine with plastic trim on it to maske it look like something else in a Mahindra frame with indian made BSA badges and has no heritage what so ever whereas both the Triumph and the royal enfield have over 120 years unbroken heritage and both bike totaly built in house oh and the clocks dont go the wrong way they just start from further around the dail
ОтветитьWhy still no Kawasaki W800 review? Even the switches are even higher quality than Indians.
ОтветитьThe Motorcycle is by a newly formed company. This need for some sort of throw back feeling of past warm fuzzies is misplaced, I rode motorcycles as a adult when the old Norton, BSA. Triumph, Allstate, Cushman and others were around. They did not compare to the Hondas, Kawasakis, Suzukis, and Yamahas. My nostalgia is riding around in the 70s while the jacket and patch crowd were degreasing the floors of their garages.
ОтветитьHave to admit, close up it's disappointing. Plastic engine covers and welds like a 5 year old with too many sweets inside him! Very rattly engine, even more so than my Rotax 500 and it is very small. Half digital, half analogue clocks and paintwork by the Stevie Wonder appreciation society.
Not really worthy of the Goldie name, they should have saved that moniker for a well sorted racer rep.
Gold Star? No, more like 4/10 see teacher after class.
cheap simulacrum from india
ОтветитьGreat review, well considered. I saw one at the Ace Run in Brighton a few weeks back and think some of the detailing is a little nicer that the Enfield.
ОтветитьJust watched this again, Freddie. I am eagerly awaiting the BSA Scrambler. Nick J
ОтветитьMash 650 is a better deal. The Goldstar Ugly radiator- switch gear- plastic engine panels- front master cylinder- mirrors and general finish.
ОтветитьThe BSA has slightly more torque than Interceptor, on these bikes torque is king👍
ОтветитьGreat review. I rode one for a few days recently. Its a lovely bike, the seat isn’t great beyond a few hours, the suspension is good enough but does show its limits on bumpy back lanes. The F650 engine has been made to work exactly right in that machine, but it is definitely still a funduro engine….I had one for two years. The styling is very nice indeed, just the radiator and exhaust cat look a bit ugly. Overall for the money its a fun and capable bike, I enjoyed it more and more as the days went on. So easy to get on with too. I think a scrambler version will sell very well.
ОтветитьBSA, bring it to the USA and you have a sale?
ОтветитьIts more clown than clone and doesn't deserve the name gold star
ОтветитьI’d like to see a comparison with the Kawasaki W800. I think that would be a great comparison. The GoldStar is beautiful. The interceptor is another Beauty but I think I like the gold star the tiniest bit more. Actually, it’s cruel to try to pick a favorite…like picking a favorite child! I love ‘em all.
ОтветитьWorld beater in your dreams maybe. Only a nice Indian bike and that's all....
ОтветитьEverything is cool, would have loved for it to have a belt drive. Maintaining the chair is such a hassle.
ОтветитьSorry but I just don't get it..take the tank of and it looks nothing like a GOLDSTAR .It's a bike they have been making for 20 years it's a fake. The Intersepter was designed as a new. Modern Bike it's already proven.3 years warranty!!
ОтветитьI have a Himalayan, so I am not anti Royal Enfield in any way, but I think the note of this machine is just great and the styling ticks all the boxes. For me the shape of the pots on the interceptor is all wrong, to squat and rounded where as the shape of this beast is more of the, how would you say, inverted pyramid shape which to me is more true to form if you are really going for a true retro look.
All very subjective of course but again from that angle the Kawasaki W series on looks alone is closer to the money metaphorically speaking.
Anyone else see what I'm getting at ????
This is not the BSA of UK, the colonies strike back very funny those formally colonized are making a more reliable bike(s) than Brits did and picked up where they quit.
ОтветитьThe real beauty is its ability to shoot down the ludicrous 'classic' market price of the 'originals'.
ОтветитьCracking bike, reasonably priced. But I'm a triumph fanboy, I would save more and get a second hand like new thruxton 1200 or even honda cb1100
ОтветитьWhat about Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650?
ОтветитьExcellent review indeed. Thank you. Great bike. 😊
ОтветитьLove the videos Freddie! What would you go with… new BSA or second hand RE classic 500? I’m 5’9” 170 pounds and go 2up with the Mrs. for the occasional night out but generally solo. My bike is now is a 1973 Honda CL350 scrambler. I love it to death but I’m thinking of something a bit more practical for daily wear and tear and keep my Honda for special occasions and tinkering. I’m all about the classic look and feel! Thanks for the hours 0f entertainment!
ОтветитьExcellent video, how the tables turn, champion good luck
ОтветитьWhen you booted the side stand up...........took me back 53 years !
ОтветитьWill BSA try to bring this bike to America?
ОтветитьJust watched this again Freddie, and you really captured the essence of this motorcycle. I did originally comment very positively, but I was also on a rant about the business in general so I deleted my original comment. I’ve got a BSA here to review, and first impressions are very positive. 👍🏼👍🏼
ОтветитьThat USB charging port is straight out of Jawa/Yezdi motorcycles they sell here in India. I have a Yezdi Roadster and it has that same exact charging port. Kinda cool😅
