2006 Radiator Springs Mountain Challenge Set Unboxing & Run — Carburetor County Race Track

This video is quite nostalgic. My father bought this track for my brother and I and we spent hours playing and the only thing we were worried about was the batteries going flat.

Honestly, in terms of location in Radiator Springs, you could slap this inbetween Wily's Butte and the sorta abandoned mine/railway looking area in Ornament Valley in the first videogame. First thing that came to mind, anyways

This set could work as a hat for Mater's collection

These were the only good playsets.

I got this set for my 4th birthday and I loved playing with it as a kid but it’s been in parts and I have been trying to put it back together and I misplaced a part that I needed so it remains in disrepair

I remember the day my brother bought this from an auction he won on eBay, ever since then I have always thought that it is the best play-set of all time, and my opinion has never changed. Still works like a charm and a joy to have and watch!

I miss the quality with cars Mattel have in 2006 , now only using the license as cash grab and making useless plastic sets

I think the stickers are reproductions, which it explains why it looks all compressed and pixely. Not to mention that it's used, so either the original ones already got used (and maybe got all torned up as well) or the guy had it but the stickiness wore off and he doesn't have balls to add glue, so he ended up scanning or looking up existing scans of the sheet.

I didn't have this set but it reminds me of the Piston Cup 500 set I had as a child

And by the way, that Dirt Track Lightning McQueen clearly is not the original that came with the set because it has the flat eyelids that were on the 2013 & 2017 models!

I had this, I have no idea where the pieces went. I just have the dirty McQueen on hand right now lol, I noticed behind his back wheels the dirt is rubbed off where it probably was hitting the walls during play lol

I remember my parents got me that set on Christmas and it was fun using the diecast I still have that dirt track lightning McQueen diecast that was in the set it is old and has scratches and marks

Had this as a kid, I can honestly tell you that even brand new in 2007 this set only worked half the time

Ah yes, the wobbliest set in history that always launched your cars off and NEVER completed loops. I saw it firsthand around 2007 and maybe it was assembled incorrectly but it was so flimsy.

What scale are those Disney cars in? This set looks fly, I don't collect Disney Cars stuff but I do collect Hotwheels and this is would be so cool, especially for a Highway 35 Dune Rats themed display.

The RS Mountain Challenge has always been one of m my childhood dream sets from Cars. The design is sick. You're quite lucky you acquired one that really hasn't been used yet. I've bought 2 of this one in used condition - the first in 2018. The spinning curve didn't work at all so I sold it. In September of 2024, I got another one, modified so it doesn't need batteries. It was a bit of an improvement... Well, at least I now know I don't need to look for a boxed one as functionality sucks😅 and cars keep falling down on yours, too. I can confirm hat elevator at the Wagon Wheel exit really needs diecasts to work properly btw
