i love my blue 46mm version of this watch ,
first tried on in Breitling shop and retail price
there was £4500 for steel strap version , managed
to purchase a 6 month old one as new with an extended guarantee
the first owner purchased for 5 years and i got both rubber
and steel straps for £2800 so think it should hold its money
at that , it was a pick that watch or omega seamaster 300 ,
after trying both on it was the Breitling for me .............
There’s no reason to buy a Breitling when you have Tudor & Omega around the same price with their own movements.
ОтветитьI bought this exact Black superocean 42 on rubber back in Q4 of 2022. As it was quite a new release then, there isn't much pre-owned available but I managed to get a 25% discount from my AD which comes up to about USD 3.5k as the retail was about USD4.7K then.
I choose this over the BB58 as I find it slightly small and IMO the fit and finish of Breitling is a notch above Tudor and its the same price after discount which the BB58 has none.
The AR coating is superb and the crystal looks like it isn't there at certain angles. Its suppose to be my beater but surprisingly I got the most questions and compliments with this among my small collection of Sub41, GMTc, Speedy Pro and Santos.
I've owned many Breitlings over the years and I like this one, if you're like me and your watch sits on your night stand when you sleep the big square on the minute hand makes it easy to tell the time at a glance.....also as far as I know Breitling certifies all of their watches ....even the quartz ones.
ОтветитьI own a “New” Superocean for 18 months. It’s amazing. Polishing beutiful, time accuratelly. Clasp oh my god so confortable. The purchase experience in AD was really good!
I’ll buy it again.
Finally a watch i don't need grasses to read
ОтветитьNo, we don't!
ОтветитьI really think the Breitling CHRONOMAT 36 worth to have a review, just to have your thoughts and opinion, it seems really a beautiful one also, and not been mentioned enough,
ОтветитьReally like these “newer” SuperOceans; especially the 44 Aqua Blue & 42 White w/ Blue ring versions. Yellow would be my 3rd choice … Breitling did a great job with this design. 👍🏻
ОтветитьOnly Rolex watches retain their value... Because of their limited availability...
Would have liked you to talk about the bezel... It is like the Longines Legend Diver
ОтветитьIch mag kein Breitling nich. Is mir zu breit!
ОтветитьSo, if you want a company making watches anyone can afford, AND has a grand history, there is Tandorio!
Mind you, their history got deliberately wiped, since Swiss-Italian Luigi Tandorio ended up as a crown witness against Goehring in 1945, because his small (so small, it was unknown outside Switzerland) Swiss watch company had made Flieger watches for the Luftwaffe, and he insisted on a permanent home in USA, which they gave to him. Mind you, to this day, there are rumours about how they managed to make so many watches in a 5 person shop, more than 18 thousand of them in 7 years, and there were a lot of trucks in the neighbourhood, that had watch deliveries fall off the back and were never found again, but that's a different story.
From there it went a wee sideways, because his son Johnny Tandorio, became "Don" Tandorio in Brooklyn (but that's a different story, knowaddameen?), and Don sort of made a family tradition out of going into witness protection in 1968 himself.
So Johnny "Don" Tandorio then settled in Hong Kong and took his daddy's watch factory tools with him, so Tandorio got established in China!
27 years later, the now senile "Don" Tandorio eventually took a scuba-dive in the Bay of Hong Kong without his air-tank and could not come up again, because the quick release on his concrete dive-boot weights got stuck, so his grand-kids took over the then still fake watch factory in 2007. Not having other income after Don's witness protection money ran out, they quit making junk just as a cover, and switched to selling quality watches that fell off a ship straight from the Swiss Alps!
When those ran out, they used the money to buy Japanese second hand tools from an accidentally burned out factory in Shinshu. This is, when they came to the attention of the Chinese FBI, who arrested them all.
Since the Tandorio factory was however already established and had made some deals, they kept the name for the now state-owned company, to catch more crooks, and eventually ran it as a clean operation, producing high quality watches, that are now well respected.
These are the watches we can now buy on AliExpress as "Tandorio", run by good honest Chinese business people and watch makers. So, you see, there is a rich and interesting history here.
ADDENDUM:
Luigi Tandorio 3rd bought the company back in 2013 and has improved the quality of Tandorio.
It is all true, I swear! (I am NOT crossing my fingers behind my back!
(This is what happens, when you allow your child to watch too much television!)
Great watch with a lovely design and practical movement 🙌.
ОтветитьThat's a great looking watch and it's not from the school of Same Same and doesn't look like a Rolex.
Ответить🤢 Sorry that telegraph flag??????
ОтветитьHi Jenni, a fellow St.Andrew’s grad here, I enjoy watching your videos and don’t normally comment however I think this is a great looking watch. I bought the 46mm version in blue last year and have not regretted it once. It of course has the same hands and I’d say it big square makes it much easier to read the time in the dark (I suppose under the water if anyone actually takes these diving) controversial question, does the movement really matter once you establish its accuracy and it’s not a display back ? You’re never going to see it…
ОтветитьI think you're spot on with the pricing and picking these up used. I would love to own one, but not at retail price. I am glad for the accuracy, but would expect something a bit more modern for that price. I don't even want in-house, because a chronometer SW300 movement with 56 hours power reserve would at least be a bit more modern. Other than watch nerd level complaint, the watch itself is very comfortable on wrist and well built. The bezel has nice clicky action/sound. It's relatively thin for that depth rating and the quick adjust on the bracelet version is very welcome. Another person at a watch meetup a few days ago brought up this watch and we both agreed that while the minute hand was a bit jarring at first, we've both come to appreciate it and would like these. For anybody that can, I recommend trying these on before writing them off. I would like to pick one of these up in the next couple years, but it's competing for other watch desires. Although the 44mm fits my 7 inch wrist, I would go for the 42mm as it hits my personal sweet spot for this particular design.
Side note: I just tried on the new rainbow version at the Breitling boutique last week. It's a fun watch and all the different straps available for a very reasonable price (sans deployant clasp) would be worth getting. I personally would probably stick with blue or turquoise looking variant.
This is one watch I’ll buy on secondary market because it’s overpriced and I don’t want to take the depreciation hit 😅
ОтветитьThank you for the lovely and very informative video as always Jenni! However, I have 1 question: are you sure that it is not a certified Chronometer? I thought all Breitlings (and all watches with a Chronometer marking on their dials) are COSC certified?
ОтветитьThe hour hand is too short as well. But most legible chapter ring evAr!
ОтветитьDoes a watch hold value NO.
Let’s get interest rates to 10% and see as all this leased things collapse in price.
5k yea nah.
ОтветитьFWIW the big hand on the original slow chrono was a centrally mounted minutes hand. The watch did not have a seconds hand. The only way you could tell at a glance that it was running is by checking the dot indicator which would turn red if the chronograph was engaged.
ОтветитьMy $800USD Tissot 1938 Chronometre has a COSC certified ETA 2824-2 movement inside.. can’t justify thousands more for a watch with the same movement to be honest.
ОтветитьGood review jenni - bought one early last year, loved it but want to downsize the collection (which didn’t happen!) so sold it this year….major regrets, it’s the perfect casual diver, photos/videos don’t do it justice - its definitely not worth full retail price but would recommend pre owned👍🏻
ОтветитьYour voice sounds amazing!
ОтветитьHard pass
ОтветитьETA is the shiznit.
ОтветитьBeautiful watch. Love it.
ОтветитьCertified.
ОтветитьI like the previous version of the superocean better. The 1000m outerknown. Breitling makes a great watch.
Ответить👼 - “Only bad witches are ugly…”
ОтветитьThe colourful ones are a lot of fun!
ОтветитьHaving an ETA inside wasn't a problem when they were Valjoux and everyone from Rolex and Heuer to Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe was using Vj 23s and 72s. The obsession with in house manufacture is comparatively recent.
ОтветитьI lots of buyers chasing the older model , as for the current model , they don’t like the two tone dial nor the minute hand
ОтветитьShe's a good solid, yet elegant ⌚ 👍
ОтветитьI briefly flirted with this watch recently with the idea of selling my BB58 for it but glad I didn’t. In the flesh it’s not as good as the Tudor or my older Omega Seamaster so it stayed in the shop and the Tudor and Omega remain in my collection.
ОтветитьThis is THE watch right now, can find a better diver at the moment
ОтветитьSo Jenni , this isn't going to be your next watch .😅
ОтветитьI like the older model much, much more.
ОтветитьIt is very difficult to understand Jenni when she speaks, not because of the accent, but because of the speed, every word blends in with the next, can hardly understand what is being said. Slow it down just a little.
ОтветитьWorst watch buying decision I have made, looks cheap, feels cheap
ОтветитьIt’s a bloody beautiful watch.
ОтветитьI'm shocked at the eta complaints... has anyone ever tried to service a Jager, or in-house omega.. it's much more expensive
ОтветитьBreitling lost their way awhile back.
