Your elbow should not be bend at the release point - that is all . Meaning you deliver with a straight arm … no elbow bend .


By the way if you straighten your arm at point of delivery after a bent arm before delivery it will not increase speed … if anything it will decrease…

This is really a very bad rule of icc regarding bowling.Every bowler has a right to throw his/her ball irrespective of his/her arm angle.Also this field restriction rule further resulted in decreasing the quality of classical cricket.Earlier batsman had to use his intelligence as well as his batting skills for finding the gaps and to score runs in cricket.And batsman who score hundred in this tough bawling and fielding condition is considered as a classical batsman like Sachin Tendulkar,Brain lara etc. Now a days it is much easier for any batsman to score runs in power play and that resulted in bringing good but not a classical player.Mark my word if earlier rule of cricket(around 90's) will enforce again except DRS system then it would become difficult for a team to score 220 to 250 runs in a single 50 overs game.

What if a bowler's arm is completely straight throughout the rotation but just before releasing the ball he adds some more force from the shoulder, is it not called chucking?

I feel that the chucking rule should get chucked out of cricket. Certain cricket boards(cough, cough, Australia), use it whenever they feel threatened by a bowler. They spoil that player's reputation and make life difficult for whoever they are targeting. Regardless if you are chucking or bowling you can only go so fast and get so much turn. It doesn't give a big enough advantage to the bowler to require a penalty. Besides which it adds some variety to the game.
