It's interesting or should I say ironic, that people who leave one city to get away from the crimes, heavy traffic, homelessness move to another city and end up seeing all those issues pop up severely again... Look, crimes, heavy traffic, and homelessness are all people related problems. Anywhere that even looks like it's going to attract people to come over is going to magnet all those people related problems. People should realize that any place with a decent population is going to have those issues or that those will grow if any big business, employer, etc move in. Maybe if a city or town had a strict vetting process would those people related issues grow much more slowly over time... Yeah that's very hard to implement.

Although I've thought of moving to Texas from California for all the reasons that so many others do, the weather in Texas sounds pretty unlivable for those of us who live with windows open most of the year and like walking around to local shops, etc. Maybe the hill country has some towns that aren't so heat-blasted?

Austin is the most left leaning city in texas most Californians fit right in.
Think about it. Austin used to be a quiet place. But since California started moving there what happened to taxes. Food. Rent etc. It went WAY up.
This is California 2.0
And guess what. Beto is very popular with everyone moving there

To those Texans worried about California transplants changing their state: don't worry. No Californian in his right mind would stay in Texas more than a few years. I was born, raised and spent most of my adult life in CA, and bought a house in San Antonio about ten years ago. The smartest thing I ever did was NOT sell my house in the San Francisco Bay Area. Every year, I find more reasons to prefer CA over TX. Texas' one big advantage--lower cost of living--is offset by the "you get what you pay for" syndrome. Having a "vacation house" in CA acts as a relief valve for me, otherwise Texas would drive me crazy. I wish there were more stories about the TURNOVER of transplants, i.e., Californians moving to Texas and then either moving back to CA, or on to other states like TN or Fl.

Great video. Everything I heard of Austin is really positive. I couldn't handle Southern California either. Really crowded and hot in the summer. Thanks for the unvarnished description of the Austin. You should have tried Northern California. I'm in Napa. Average summer temperature is 82. Oh the wine isn't bad.

One big regret people from the west have moving out to Texas is the lack of outdoor freedom. The west coast has vast tracts of open forests and mountains that can be roamed year round, but the parks and open land to the citizens of Texas are tiny by comparison and it’s too hot anyways half the year. Don’t move to Texas if you like going into the outdoors.

Great video as a former resident of the San Francisco Bay Area after living there for 35 years!!! I left California in 2011 when Gavin Newsom was the Mayor of San Francisco and WE have seen has that has turned out as Gavin cannot even RUN the entire state of California. People from California are completely IGNORANT to the fact that California is NOT Austin. Texas!!!!! Californians are RUINING Texas hands down!!!

I want to move to Texas, from California. I've never paid attention to politics and wouldn't try to change anyone's mind about anything. It seems, from the comments, people from texas hate anyone from California just because they are from California. I'm just an electrician with a family that wants to live a better life. I'm a little worried now we wont be accepted, just from where we come from, without anyone knowing how nice we are. it's pretty discouraging.

Well I needed to move to Austin wanted or not, as I just got my job there. I was very scared to move, after many reviews with statement's mentioning it was very very pricey. I moved from el paso tx, San Antonio TX to Austin TX and I am amazed, is not that bad., I got a wooden floor, 2 bedroom apartment, not the most luxurius apartment, but family oriented, so is not that bad. The apartment is 1275.00 with parking lot fee, this is south downtown in Austin tx is not the best area, neither a bad one, at least not where I live, as sone have homeless people, but they seem to be at some particular areas only, so make your research in person before getting an apartment, is not that bad, just save some time to drive around. Regarding apartment price 2500.00 and extreme pricey cost nope, not that bad, not true, unless you want a luxury apartment of course Austin tx or anywhere of course will be more expensive.

Austin has run amuck in the last twenty years and is not the Austin it used to be. Austin could run out of water in the next few years as the LCRA drains our central Texas lakes and send our drinking down the river for a few rice farmers and wastes our water. Californians stay put where your at.

Austin was poorly managed before the tech companies and others coming here. It’s doubled in population since like 1990 and yet they refuse to build any public transit, roads with more than 2-3 lanes and tons of tolls. Just all the suburban sorawl low density housing. Still love it though. I’m in Houston myself so I always love driving 360 and 2222 on the hills since it’s pancake flat here lol. And loveeee the less humidity compared to here. You step outside and you’re hit in the face with a wet blanket… that was just in the oven 😭😭

I wish you did regret it, because many native Texans are beginning to regret it, and if Texas is so amazing why do Californians want to change it? And rather than change it into California why not just go back to California? The natives though, we are few in number being, that most of us have been priced out of the only home we have ever known.

From a lifelong Californian: There's a smug arrogance of Californians based on nothing and I am one of them. We're proud absent a reason, coasting on the reputation of those long past. Not sure we know this, but everyone outside of a big city hates our guts with a passion. We claim to despise American imperialism, yet we engage in it on a state level. We think every state that isn't doing it our way is bigoted and or inferior, at least that's what we tell ourselves. We're vapid supremacists with no ears and only mouths incessantly yapping about our "greatness".

Be humble, listen, and use logic and reason. If we do this, which we won't, we can be that which we've manufactured in our minds. We actually have the arrogance to think we have it all figured out if only the plebs in flyover states would just submit.
