Does there have to be two roads in between settlements? I saw the part about adjacent corners but does that apply to the same color?

the rules of my copy says very clearly that you first do any trades then you build on the next phase of your turn. maybe mine is an older version?

So about the settlements. When placing a settlement, can you place it in the adjacent space that another settlement has if the settlement is owned by yourself?

Unclaimed Longest Road Question. 🤔

Scenario: Player A builds a 5th road but no one realizes that they should be awarded the longest road. Player B, with 8 points, builds their 5th road, claims the unclaimed longest road card, and announces they’ve won the game. Then, out of surprise that 5 roads would be the longest, players evaluate and see that player A should have the 2 points instead.

Setting aside your incredulity that anyone could not have realized on player A’s turn, or otherwise did not announce it, what would be the ruling here?

Do the rules state that the points are immediately given to player A whether anyone realizes it or not? 🙆🏻‍♂️

How long does it usually take to finish this game?

I’ve been a pretty avid board gamer for about 3 years now. Never played Catan, but just got it and the 5-6 player expansion for my anniversary with my fiancé (9 years!). Very excited to bring it out next game night.

I have a question about the when asking opponents about their resources, If I ask what resources they have, do they have to be honest with me? or can they lie about what they have?

Is it true that the number of cards in your hand is always open and available information? Specifically, should it be readily apparent how many development cards you have, but have not yet played? Or can you hide the resource cards under the table or in your pocket so that no one can see how many cards you have?

Yes. The quantity of cards you have in your hand is public information. But the identity of those cards is not. If another player asks, for example, how may resource cards do you have, right before he moves the robber, you must tell him truthfully the number of resource cards you have in your hand. The same goes for Development or Progress cards. The number of each type of card (resource, development, etc.) that you have is public knowledge at all times. (But, not the specific cards, i.e. wood, sheep, rock…)

I have a question about trading, can only the active player initiate trades with others? can others initiate a trade with the active player as well?

great video thank you but i have one question. To use a development card right away on that same turn, we can only use development cards with points to them and we have to wait our next turn on the other development cards without points?

You say when you roll a 7 and the robber is activated all players with "more than 7 resource cards" isn't it "7 or more"? Not MORE than 7?

1, to get another hexagons resource will you need a settlement there or your road is enough.?
2. can you place your new (3rd settlement ) anywhere or first you need the road to go that place and then built the settlement or just directly place your settlement?

Can you make trades involving IOU's, or would that be considered two separate trades of giving away resources? For example, getting an ore immediately and then giving that player the next two wool you collect.

My two sons and I and I want to start playing more strategy games after enjoying the Disney villainous. Ordered Catan, Risk and Carcassonne because of your videos. You break the games down so well that after watching your video once I feel I have a good enough grasp of the game to get started. Unlike other videos on here and confusing rule books. Great work 👍🏻
