There are multiple parts in the structure of FC Basel: One part (FC Basel 1893 Verein) holds the name, the clubcolors and is where the fans can be members to vote for decisions. Reto Baumgartner is president of FC Basel 1893 Verein. The other part (FC Basel Holding AG) is where decisions around players, trainers and so on are made. Bernhard Burgener was president of it before David Degen replaced him.

You can clearly hear it's a woman who's talking. Everyone wants to come up against Basel in champions league. They are one of the lowest rated teams in Europe . Them beating any English club would have been pure luck and they would never go through to the final stages ever . They suck in Europe and all international teams would love to play against them due to them being the easiest opponents

I'll never forget our match against Basel. It was the last stage of the UECL qualifiers, and we saw the second match of it, in our arena. My team worked hard but lost out on penalties. We still have necer played in any European competition (apart from qualifiers)

Basel is home to Novartis and Roche, two of the largest Pharmaceutical companies in the world. I used to work for Novartis and traveled to Basel from the US quite a lot. Trust me when I say this city is run by those two companies and nothing happens without them including football.

The decline of FC Basel is also related to the re-newed rise of Young Boys Bern, who now dominate the Swiss Super League. If you find yourself again in Switzerland, their games at the Wankdorf Stadium are well supported and worth a visit. I like your witty description of Basel being in a "German-French Sandwich! :)

Something that could astonish you is that FC Basel isn't even the only swiss football club with a shopping center. St Gallen also has a shopping center in the kybunpark.

Never get a seat at the front at FC Basel. The stadium was converted to a pure football stadium, but the roof never extended over what was previously the running track. I spent a game getting soaked in torrential rain. I also spent an hour in a queue waiting to park in the multi-storey car park, waiting until 8pm when the shops shut, and then 9pm kickoff football fans could park.

Relegation playoff match is a cool idea. In America we called it “The Toilet Bowl” after our college (American) football bowl games 😂
