Back in the day the "NES Gamemasters" used to be free to call. I probably called them dozens of time. I remembered complaining to them because i got hard-locked stuck in Blastermaster.

Nintendo bringing in some of their game counselors from when it was still a thing, the winner of the 1990 championship in the other ad, and styling the in game hints after classic Nintendo Power, this whole thing feels like a nice nostalgia trip.

Hey wasn't Shari the very last Game Counselor to take a call before the hotline closed its doors?

It was really awesome seeing the former Counselors! Always wanted to call as a kid but like…I know I would’ve wasted time and money on the dumbest questions ever, so I missed out.

I remember back in the mid 90s I called the Nintendo power hotline, I found the number in Nintendo Power Magazine lol, but I neglected or just didn't care to realize the call was per minute. Needless to say my dad wasn't happy when he got a $200 phone bill later on...

Back in the early 90's, we DID actually ring the Nintendo Hotline to find the 8th dungeon entrance in NES Zelda. No internet back then peoples!

Once we knew we could burn bushes with the candle, it opened up the whole game for me lol. I was burning every bush in the game lol.

The woman who helps with balloon fight sounds SO familiar! Her voice is in something else, what is it? Is it a jackbox game? Please someone help!

I like the marketing here but the game looks really bad.

I can decipher touch tones by sound. I heard "14258857529" which was indeed the number for reaching a game counselor back in the day. The number stayed active even after the call center closed, instead providing pre-recorded hints for a while. I remember wishing I lived within local calling distance to Redmond so that I wouldn't subject my mom to long distance fees, but I did get permission to call a couple times when I was really stuck on something. Glad some of the former counselors got to reprise their roles here.

Shoutout to these Ninten-Pros! I remember having to call a few times back in the day and no joke they really were game masters that knew these games inside and out.
