Taran is exceptionally talented and 100% spot on about recognizing his potential to succeed at getting into, and thriving, on SNL
Plenty of people want that same goal but lack the talent, or the drive, to make it happen. Taran had both, and he burned bright among other cast members.
I actually don't remember him disappointing in a single sketch.

That's sad that it made him less secure because Taran Killam was the funniest one on the show during his time. I was sad to see him leave it but happy if that was the right thing for him.

The pay disparity between MadTV and SNL 10 years later is insane. I was always sad when Taran left SNL in 2016 but I am glad he is in a better place nowadays.

Imagine being paid $3,000 a week. More than that. And it’s a salary that you’re complaining about. Damn. Some people don’t know how lucky they are.

He was one of the best on SNL at the time, sad it didn't last long. Was so versatile.

Not surprising. Bill Hader said the same thing. He said he basically had to leave for his mental health, but still appreciated the opportunity to be apart of something so monumental. I think he even had a panic attack on air once. Although I don’t know why Taran didn’t get a send off from Lorne Michaels cause Bill said Lorne was great to him, but it sounds like Taran didn’t have that experience.

Taran is one of the most talented members from the new school of SNL. He had serious range and deserved more.

And now the cast is completely awful. Only a very few actually produce consistently funny work. More woke crap than ever

He was SOOOO good on the show, when i look back at skits he was in, he crushes every part. Soo good.

It’s a shame the love the people who work in the show have for it doesn’t often translate into good comedy. I’m constantly amazed at how poorly realized the sketches tend to be with incredibly unimaginative premises. The miss to hit ratio is large and they also haven’t had decent musical guests for a long time.

His Brad Pitt was spot on. The show could use him now. OK on occasions, but no real stand outs.

Glad to hear that he was happy to leave. I’ve been a fan of his since Wild n Out and I was sad when he didn’t come back to SNL.

SNL sounds awful. No wonder it hasn't been funny in 25 years. Everyone is either a bully or a victim

He was also great on wildin out. VERSATILE!!! He can play to all types of people which is why he’s so great.

He's not the first former cast member who's either hinted at—if not directly said—how that show is a pretty negative place that grinds people up, and it kinda messes them up. Sounds like a rough, toxic place to be unlerss you're young/desperate/hungry and willing to put up with a lot. Lorne seems like a dictater who's been in power so long he doesn't know how or even care to make it better, and everyone is terrified of him.

Definitely one of the underappreciated talents on the show, looking forward to all his future projects!

Taran carried a lot of the seasons he was in. Great impressionist and I consistently enjoyed every sketch he was in.

Lorne runs on pure ego. He has no real taste anymore. I rarely look in on SNL these days.

Glad to see how level headed and logical and smart he is. Honest.

Him and Jay Pharaoh were top tier. Now we have insufferable replacements like Colin Jost and Michael Che.

I loved him on the show and was disappointed when he left. You could tell he put everything into it because he was that good.
