wow this is great! you totally fixed it. Frazetta is one of my favorite artists but its for his skill as an artist and design. strangely I kinda like Roy Krenkel more, I love his subjects and the way he could tackle the same idea from many different angles, its a shame he was not more confidence in his craft, he is a forgotten master imo.

That was epic! Loved every second of it. That’s how art should be taught. With a no bullshit attitude. Well played sir. Well played 👍

Brutal but honest. If he takes it in and applies some of your suggestions he will learn something. Ignoring the awkward placement of the figure I liked the 4 poster value demo you demonstrated. How the viewer can see what was going on with only 4 colors just as well as they could with full color while the original became a mostly broken abstraction without much balance when reduced to 4 values.

I reckon some of my disappointing painting that I can't quite put my finger on the problem might be helped by following this procedure. I don't even have to look at one of them, it's bleeding obvious after watching this video.

Only when one ties to do it. They can understand, that what Frazetta was doing was "easy" only to him. Because he had absolute control of the Technics.

More fan fails please! Very helpful description of the "balanced values" strategy. Anyway, what happens when you have a figure against a completely white (untouched) background like many drawings do (e.g. black/pencil on white paper)? I mean, in this case you can't balance the entire white-paper, but I imagine that you could balance the values within the figure alone?

Good video master Mike! This author I think try to mix Frazetta with Simon Bisley (I saw also the other paintings) but without the principles of compositions and knowledge of both. I think this is the common problem of who wants to take the easy way of "copying" without studying.
